Bad customer service & room reeking of cigarette

Posted 22-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
My stay was terrible. We booked a non-smoking room for 2 days & as soon as we walked in the room reeked of cigarette, it was so bad we had to get our bed sheets change dbecause tehy smelled too. We went to see the receptionist to get another room for the next day. The next day he told us we should have confirmed the request in the morning that it was too late... I asked to talk to a manager and he let me know she would be in the following day. When I talked to the Manager about my issue with the cigarette smell, she screamed at me hurling that cigarette smells and there is nothing they can do about it, they cannot control people who smoke when/where it's forbidden. She was rude to me and never apologized for the condition of the rooms. Still shouting ta me, she said she would give me a 10Euro discount for the 2nd night, which is peanuts I think, and ended up not even applying the discount she promised. I wrote a letter to their management but never got any response. This was a terrible experience, I don't recommend this hotel, they really don't care about customers well being during their stay. They were just happy to take money without providing the service I paid for.

The rooms aren't too bad, but the hotel is a fair distance from main attractions

Don't stay here

Posted 03-Jul-2013
Pros: I must say it was a good location in terns if proximity to the Metro to get all around Paris.
Cons: Pretty much everything else.
Location: Plenty of bars, stores and restaurants in the area but it's better to head to the heart of Paris for entertainment.
Don't stay here. There was no AC but when you opened the windows the noise from the drunk people loitering around nearby screaming like crazies and cars speeding off kept us up all night. The staff was helpful during the day but if you interrupted one guys Law and Order at night you would not be pleased. The phones didn't work in the rooms and it smelled pretty funky in the lobby and elevators. I had to close by suitcase to have space to walk to the bathroom.

Not bad for what we spent.

Was off the beaten path and was still noisy. Down an alley and there must have been a night club or something across the street because it was loud until 3am. No air conditioning when we were there and not very close to the major Paris attractions. Booked a triple room with 3 single beds, got a single and a double. Got it fixed after some talking.

Adequate-Basic B&B Rome, Italy

Posted 25-May-2013
Convenient colorful neighborhood location walk to restaurants, supermarket, bus, train to downtown Rome and sights. Simple accommodations, very small bathroom with hot shower, best rooms face the street, quiet at night... Basic continental breakfast, free wifi connection is very poor at times. Local calls made from hotel can be expensive. Friendly, helpful English speaking staff.

This was an overpriced ugly hotel and room. Yes its Paris, but really. Plastic wood floors and not enough room to swing a cat. The cleaning products smellt so bad we had to leave the windows open.

Good enough!

Posted 21-Feb-2013
Pros: The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were quiet. The windows opened for fresh air.
Cons: It was a little grungy and could use some love (not too bad, but the shower needed a good cleaning!).
Location: It's in a busy neighborhood, loud and lots to do. Great for a younger-ish crowd, not for families.
The staff was lovely at this hotel. The rooms were simple and comfortable. Although it was on a noisy street, the rooms were very sound-proofed! The location is great-close to everything you need. It's nothing fancy, but I would certainly stay here again.

Avoid at all costs!! Cheap but not cheerful!!

Posted 12-Oct-2012
Pros: Checking out!!! Not a lot of positive things to say but the room was clean and the towels were clean and changed both days of the stay.
Cons: Attitude of staff was unpleasant; the lift was not operational. I forgot to take the remote back at checkout; the receptionist made me go back for it!
Location: Location was good as it was near to a Metro station and some nice restaurants / bistros / cafes. Access to all parts of the city was therefore easy.
I was looking forward to staying at this hotel until I stepped through the door into the hotel reception. The smell of body odour from the night receptionist was overpowering! Not a good sign I thought. I arrived about 9pm with my fellow traveller and handed my Expedia booking confirmation to the receptionist who with hardly a word of greeting then examined the booking for some minutes, as if he had not a clue about what he had in his hand. I was almost hoping there had been some mix up and that there was no booking! Eventually he said "you want a twin room?". I said yes...that's what was in the confirmation! We were allocated a room and handed the key along with a remote control for the tv. We made for the lift as the room was on the third floor only to be told that it was not working #I suspect it has not been working for some time!#. We had to use the spiral staircase.....and then back down as the remote for the tv had no batteries in it! The Room: Small but probably to be expected in Paris. Twin beds but were located abutting each other - no room between them. Furniture was meagre, certainly not enough wardrobe space or drawers for two people. Decor was tired as were the bed linens, although they were clean. The toilet was small with a curtain shower only but the extractor fan did not work which probably accounted for the dampness / mustiness of the room #no natural ventilation#. TV has only French channels and if there was free wifi, it wasn't in the rooms!

Reasonable price for a standard Paris hotel

Posted 17-Sep-2012
Pros: Cleanness
Cons: Shower room (space) is small.
Reasonable price, standard small hotel just like 80% others in Paris but clean. I was a little lost when I tried to find it as it's hidden in a small street, but basically just turn right when you get out of the metro and walk up the road, and turn right again.
