“Victorian But 'Shabby'”

This hotel was listed as having Victorian charm. We found it to be quite tired, indeed shabby. The location was great - close to the ocean, but seeing as it overlooks a bar and restaurant there was also traffic noise.

Across the street at the Best Western Pacifica - unfortunately it was already full when we made our reservations. I had stayed there 3 times before. Pacifica is close to SFO, and to San Francisco. It is an easy drive to Monterey as well.

“On Beach but old hotel”

The Motor Inn was about what you would expect of a 1 star motor inn. Being near the ocean the rooms were musty and the paint on the exterior of the hallways and doors was rusted from the salt water mist.

“Not impressed”

Hotel is a bit run down, but rooms are clean and comfortable, although small. Front office staff is friendly. Maid forgot to clean our room. When maid was cleaning other rooms, she would leave 5 or 6 rooms wide open, and maid was nowhere to been seen. Guests' luggage and personal items were clearly visible from hall. Anyone could have walked into to any of those rooms and taken anything. The doors open to the outside and the halls can be accessed by anyone, not just hotel guests.

“stay away for the price”

Hotel is a little beat up. Missing tiles in bathroom, Very thin blankets on beds. very noisey. Small, very compact parking. Room is way over priced. should be half the price the hotel charges. I would not ever stay there again for the price.

“Very Disappointed”

Room damp. Rug soggy. Lots of mold in bathroom. 1 Block from ocean not across the street. "Ocean View" is blocked by parking lot and abnother building. It is only a particial view.

“Good Value for the area”

Stantard type of room a little dated, bed was not comfortable, but the room was clean and the service was good.

“Very poor quality”

The rooom stank. We were on the second floor. There was someone above us that stomped and slid things around all night long which interrupted our sleep. The bed was uncomfortable. It looked like the tile in the shower had been badly patched, and it looked as if it would fall out at any minute. The hotel clerk was nice. However I and my wife would never stay there agin.

“Older, but nice”

This hotel could use a remodel to update its interior, but is OK as is. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and very accommodating.

“Great staff - so so property.”

We stayed here on a couples getaway to the beach and the front desk kindly gave us a third floor room with a great view of the waves. Unfortunately the windows were so dirty it was hard to see out. There is also a parking lot and one story building between this hotel and the ocean. This is an older hotel that is trying to upgrade, for instance there is marble on the floor of the generously sized bathroom, but a really old tub. The carpet was also damaged for several feet along a prominent seam. On the other hand a microwave and fridge are provided. The room itself was clean and in fact the maids walked in twice around nine in the morning as we'd not hung the do-not-disturb sign. The hotel offers a $5.99 breakfast at the Best Western restaurant and supposedly a ten percent discount if you order other dishes, but the restaurant did not honor the 10% - saying the hotel should have given us a paper voucher if we wanted anything other than the $5.99 special. Great breakfast anyway, and clean windows for the view!
