This was my second budget hotel stay in Japan and the first had made me nervous (the photos online of this hotel are also a bit outdated I think) but Hotel Lucky is more than comfortable enough for short term stays. We chose the bunk room and while it wasn't huge, it had air con, a desk, fridge, tv and brand new bunk bed to boot, I actually had a fantastic nights sleep. The three shower rooms and one (men only) bathroom are shared but all are new and clean, shampoo and soap are provided and towels are for sale from the front desk (manned by a very welcoming man who speaks impeccable English) for 350 yen or a bit over £2. A microwave, hot water dispenser, cutlery, crockery, cooking hob, vending machine and hairdryer are also all available in the common areas. Dobutsuen mae station's 8th exit is just around the corner making it easy to jump on the subway line straight to key stops like shin osaka and namba. The staff also were arranging an outing to a festival when we left so there's the chance to socialise with your fellow travellers too. Overall, for a tenner each for one night in a great location in Osaka, Hotel Lucky is definitely recommended!
