The room was lovely! Very cozy with the lake just off the porch! I heard a Loon the first evening. Right on the lake was wonderful!

We loved our room, which had a partial lake view with a quick step out to a platform with Adirondack chairs, where we got an excellent view of the sun rise over the beautiful lake. The food at the Lean To restaurant was excellent!

Great Pines Resort is perfectly situated on Fourth Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of NYS, with both cabins and rooms in the main lodge offering spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The interior and exterior setting of the resort transports guests back to the era of the Great Camps with its large porches, stone fireplaces, and rustic twig accents. The resort is conveniently located between the towns of Old Forge and Inlet. (Don't miss going to a movie at the Strand Theater in Old Forge!) There is a cozy restaurant on the premises called the Lean-to that offers a simple bar and food menu for lunch or dinner. Guests help themselves to a continental breakfast, and this is where I think the resort could improve. A chef-prepared breakfast offering some of the area's favorites such as flapjacks and maple syrup would be a wonderful complement to this resort. There is a large dining room that doesn't appear to be used at all other than for special events. The staff is courteous and professional and fun. All in all, it is a great place for a vacation!

We are currently working on some ideas to improve the current breakfast options without necessarily needing to have a chefs prepared option, although that would be fantastic and we hope to someday be able to do that! Great Pines is a perfect location for visits to the Old Forge/Inlet area. We love that it is pet friendly. The bar/restaurant is great. Beds are comfy; nice linens and towels provided. On the downside, our room was cold---and we found that the a couple of the windows would not shut all the way and the door did not seal properly----lighting in the room was really poor; one lamp was actually broken. Not a bad place----but for what you charge, you need to give some attention to some of these details.

Not a real fireplace like shown in photos
Honeymoon room was nice and clean. Annoyed I payed more money for a fireplace room and the fireplace was not what was pictured on the photos. It was a plug in fake electric heater

Staff wasnt very informative about issues with the water not working. We found out it wasnt working after going to our room to use the bathroom. The floors were never cleaned up from the night before in the main lodge. They didn't have the breakfast area stocked for the grab and go breakfast.

The Great Pines has amazing Lake and Mountain views, walking their property is beautiful and serene. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Easy access to Old Forge for our favorite shopping at Life in the ADK, drinks at The Waiting Room, hot mulled wine at Montezuma Winery, dinner at Toca Bocca, and a Soundbath at Under the Sun Wellness.

Nice property in a beautiful location. The on site restaurant was definitely a plus with very good service and food. The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Our only complaint was with the shower which lacked water pressure and the water temperature was difficult to regulate.

The property has a beautiful view of the lake. It is an older property with knotty pine paneling, but it was clean, and it was quiet and peaceful. The mattress was very comfortable. It was a good place to stay.

Our room was small and dark. The bathroom was quite dated. Since we only needed the room for a home base, it was good enough for the 4 of us. We ate in the dining room once ( staff was great and food was good) and did have the continental breakfast both mornings. If you only need the minimum for your stay, this would be ok.

Old sagging mattress. Poor lighting in room. Bug and spiders in room. Filthy, stained carpet in room. Room service only upon request. You have to pick up rooms supplies from lobby. Breakfast foods and water not replenished. No decaf coffee. Outside seating is dirty and the place is covered in cob webs. The restaurant had limited hours even though the website stated lunch and dinner. The whole place is run down and old. The reception desk was not staffed most of the time. You needed to email them for service. Would not recommend to anyone.

I had a different experience than my friend who had a separate room…. the windows in my room were clearly new.. but didn’t work well at all… I tried to open the front windows and they simply did not open correctly and would only open about 3 inches.. the room on my visit was very stuffy and I wanted fresh air… to this end I tried to use the air conditioner and it sounded like a motor cycle in the room for both air conditioning and fan only. The carpet was dirty and the sink in the bathroom had a cap of some sort stuck in the drain causing the water to slowly drain. The rest of the property was absolutely beautiful as was the main lodge.

We were greeted by a woman who identified herself as a housekeeper and didn’t really know how check in works. Later a guy was helping another guest look for his lost wallet and said ; “ this isn’t how I planned to spend my day off”. All fine but my wife and I both became I’ll while there ( Not the hotels fault) but I was labor ing to get our luggage downstairs ( with Covid) and no one offered any assistance. The on-site restaurant is closed On Monday and Tuesday by the way. Beautiful setting, lovely room, sorry to have bothered the staff.

The breakfast was a continental breakfast which wasn't indicated in the confirmation or original description of amenities at the facility. Restraurant was closed when we were there, again not mentioned in description of amenities. Shower was not usable because shower head did not adjust so water went everywhere. We were in room 6. Parking good, landscape very nice, Adirondack-style lodge was very nice. Staff fairly helpful. Next time we go to Old Forge NY, we will probably stay somewhere else.

Beautiful view, but the docks were not in the best shape. The restaurant next door wasn't open during the stay, which was okay, but would have been convenient. The wifi worked well, and the smart TVs were a plus for the kids. Using the word resort felt like a stretch. It was a decent room with a nice view but I felt like it was overpriced.

Beautiful setting. The Staff ( Manager Mindy & Chef Jenny), couldn’t have been more accommodating. They both worked tirelessly seeing to all our needs, literally going above and beyond to assure our family gathering was exceptional and memorable. We were extremely impressed with their service.

Beautiful location and amenities. Could be a positive or negative, but no one came into our room during our 3 night stay. Disappointed that swimming wasn’t allowed. We had fun using the kayaks, canoe, and SUP and that kind of felt like our way around the no swimming rule. Food was good at the lean-to restaurant.
