It was convenient and accommodating
We are skiers so are gone early in the morning and do not return until later in the evening. We eat outside except for breakfast in the morning. We bring our own sheets and towels. We removed the existing sheets on the beds and set aside for washing. All blankets are folded and left on beds for complete airing. We fold up rug so it doesn’t get dirty during our stay. All garbage and trash is removed. We vacuum and mop all floors. We are grateful and appreciative for the rental and treat respectfully. We enjoy the convenience of the location and the simplicity of its contents. We shovel the entrances. Thank you

Great Get Away
We got check in information a couple hours ahead. The place was clean and had just about everything we needed including bedding, towels, and some paper products. It had both a keurig and coffee maker. We will be booking this place again for our trip next year!

Weekend Stay
This is our second time staying here for a weekend in August, meeting other family staying in the area.. We love the house and it's proximity to town, yet the feeling of being secluded. There was a mechanical issue with the entry upon arrival. We were able to reach the owner who was very helpful and figure out a way to bypass it. We were able to get in within a few minutes and find a breaker had tripped. We will stay here again!

We had no communication of how to get into the house until after 5pm on the day of arrival (check-in was 4pm) when the owner finally answered my 2nd phone call. We switched to this property specifically because the women wanted central air just to find out the central air wasn’t working. We discovered this after running the air for 4 hours and the house seeming to get hotter. We didn’t bother the owner with it at that point because it was late and because temps were in the 50’s at night and every room had ceiling fans. Owner must have known and simply didn’t bother to communicate that to us because a tech showed up Monday morning to repair the problem. I sent the owner questions by email prior to our trip that have yet to be answered. One of those questions was about toilet paper, paper towels and cleaning supplies. After arriving we had to go back out and get paper towels and toilet paper as the house was basically out. Would have been good to know that before we got there. I Asked the owner a question on day of departure by text about where garbage should be left and have yet to hear a response back. Turns out the town has a dump spot that was easy and convenient but wasn’t mentioned at all in the owners instructions book. We spent almost an hour trying to figure out the garbage situation. Much of the aggravation could have been alleviated by better communication from the owner combined with better instructions from the owner. All in all it is a great property and very close to town.

Overall poor experience
First, I've stayed on this property once before, last year, and the experience wasn't too bad. Around the property needs some cleaning, and the inside is in pretty good shape, but during our current stay (7/11/2022 - 7/14/2022) we encountered multiple issues: 1. We did not get check-in directions until the morning of our travel. However, it did come before the scheduled check-in time of 4:00PM. Communication before a stay is typically non-existent from this owner, even after attempting to make contact multiple times. 2. As we were driving in to the property, the owner let us know that the downstairs bathroom was out of order. The morning of our first day is the FIRST we hear of this. This happens to be the same bathroom gave us issues last year as well. It is located very close to the septic tank connection. The toilet water is often discolored from sewage back up. The sewage smell in that corner of the basement, and the bathroom, is noticeable. Needless to say, we were out one of the three bathrooms, and was not offered any compensation for the inconvenience. 3. Upon arrival, the property's WiFi was not working. My wife needed this connection to do some remote work while on this vacation. It was one of the many reasons we choose this property. I contacted the owner about the WiFi and he informed me it should be working. He called AT&T to check into the issue. Since the owner was not in town, I was tasked to speak with an AT&T representative to resolve the issue. I spent most of the first day and the morning of the second day working to fix the WiFi. It ended up that the SIM card in the router was "deleted" from the owner's account and a new one needed to be installed. I patiently waited for one of the owner's employee to show up with the new SIM card. I installed the new SIM card and the WiFi signal was restored. It wasn't very good WiFi, but we were back in business. 4. After contacting the owner to express my displeasure in how I spent the first few days of this vacation, he simply said it was out of his control, and he didn't anticipate this issue. I did not receive a discount, refund or another stay as compensation for the issue. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed in this response. Overall, the treatment I received was not at all what I expected and this turned out to be the WORST experience I've had in the town of Old Forge. A town I've visited every year for the past 35 years.

The bathroom issue has been resolved once again with another new grinder pump for the downstairs bathroom at a cost of over $2,000. People need to stop putting their feminine products down it and not telling me there is an issue until after they leave and the cleaning people have to call me with a problem. Once that happens and there is a same day turn there is literally nothing I can do to rectify the problem the same day. With regard to the At&T I also spent the entire day on the phone with them to try and figure out what was wrong. It worked perfectly for the previous renter. The unit ended up need a new simm card which I had sent up there right away once we knew that was the issue. This is Old forge, wifi is not perfect and if there are issues most owners are a couple hours away. I feel I do my best to accommodate and not to mention the house is absolutely beautiful for the money. Where can you stay in a place like that for $300 per night for your entire family. It doesn't exist. If you are looking for a higher level experience and service here is a website click it www.ritzcarlton.com. All of your issues were rectified within a timely manor and for you to give me a review like this after I sent my assistant up there with a simm card so your wife could work is absurd to me. This is my private home and also a business for me. None of your issues have anything to do with the quality of the house and property, they were very circumstantial. Best of luck.

We got just what we expected, a nice house to stay in while we experienced the Adirondacks. The house is clean and has lots of space. Some minor issues are there is poor lighting and the kitchen cabinets don't have handles. Overall we had a great experience and love the Adirondacks!

This house is very nice. Very spacious. I would recommend bringing own towels and sheets, otherwise everything we needed for 4 days was there. Less than a mile to water park we will book again.

Very nice home with great location, but a few shortcomings
This is a very lovely rental with the interior nearly completely done in knotty pine. It was advertised with 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, but the basement bath was located very near the septic tank connection. The toilet was discolored from sewage back up. The sewage smell in that corner of the basement was very strong. The owner gave us a warning about an electrical problem involving a GFI outlet frequently tripping the grinder pump. This outlet was connected to the sewage pump. The downstairs bedroom was at the other end of basement and did not contain the smell. The sewage issue seemed to have been a long-term problem, yet to be resolved. The basement floor was noticeably cooler that the rest of the house which ruled out walking barefoot on it.

House and location were great we went to snowmobile started messaging owner a month before trip about check in and to ask if it would be plowed when we got there. Owner finally answered about how to check in 4 days before check in, never addressed wether it would be plowed then had to message again day of check in about code got it while we were on the road heading there. Got there after long trip in bad weather just wanted To relax driveway not plowed 12 inches of snow. Called owner he didn't respond till morning said I guess you had a storm there which had been all over news. Three hours later after someone in a plow came by and pulled us out then we paid him to plow driveway so we could get off road we could finally relax . Driveway is not big enough for 4 trucks and trailers one in our group had to park at parking area and snowmobile in to house. When plow guy came he swiped end of driveway and was out so fast we didn't have time to move vehicle and have him clear again. If not for plowing and communication it would be perfect

The house was just as advertised. Very spacious, right on a snowmobile trail, more than enough space for the 4 of us. Beautiful home with more than enough parking for our vehicles and trailers. Guarantee will plan to be back next year.

Snowmobiling Get Away
This is a great place to stay for a snowmobiling group. Plenty of off street parking for trucks, trailers, and snowmobiles. We had 6 people in our group and was VERY comfortable and private. Spent most of our time (when not snowmobiling) in the basement at the bar with a cozy fire going in the wood burning fireplace. The place was very clean and has a tastefully decorated cabin theme. Easy trail access and will be staying here again for sure.

Great Stay
We stayed for a four-day weekend in August. We used the house for a home base as we did other things in the area. We had eight of us staying there plus another five family members staying nearby who would sometimes come for meals. We had plenty of room and didn’t feel like were on top of each other. I was initially a little afraid because of some of the negative reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. The home is new and very spacious. We thought it looked much nicer than the pictures depict. It was very clean when we arrived. It was very well equipped, and we found everything we needed there. Yes, there are no pulls on the kitchen cupboards and drawers, but we didn’t find them hard to open. We found there to be plenty of towels, although we had brought extras that we didn’t use. There is also a new front-loading washer/dryer there, so you can always do a load if you need to. The furniture is awesome. It’s in a great location, close to everything in the Old Forge area. The beach access and boat launch are on Hollywood Road. It’s close, but not necessarily someplace I would walk to. The Old Forge public beach is also only a three-minute drive and is much larger and has lifeguards and a playground for the kids. We would definitely stay there again.

Nice Family Stay
This place was beautiful and spacious. Amazing decor. Room enough for my extended family of 10 and close to downtown. It was in a remote location so we did not have to worry about the small children near a road. We had a couple of concerns , if corrected , this place would definitely rate a 5 overall. One concern was that the owner/manager was very difficult to contact. Several messages and e-mails prior to our stay with no response. I finally called VRBO to contact him but still nothing listed on my account regarding access, house rules, etc. The other concern was the plumbing issue in the basement. The grinder pump was not working properly causing a water back-up in the bathroom. Apparently this was a known concern prior to our stay and several others. Overall with a little attention, this property would receive a high recommendation from us. Our family had a wonderful time and we definitely enjoyed the space , the ammentities, and the A/C! We look forward to staying again next year.

Great place to stay, cleaning isn't the best
First impression was great, the place was very roomy and pretty nice. Once we started settling in, we found garbage under both bunk beds. The mattress are the old style spring mattress and pretty uncomfortable, could use an upgrade. The 2 queen beds were spacious and comfortable. The ceiling fans need to be adjusted and wobble significantly on speeds any higher than medium. I wasn't able to get in touch with the property owner with messages through vrbo. We had to find a phone number and call to get any responses. Overall the stay was great. Would love to see a TV installed upstairs so those with mobility issues can enjoy it as well. We will most likely be returning next year.

cleanliness was HUGE issue!
I usually don't like to leave bad reviews, but felt that I needed to this time. The owner's communication was poor and he didn't answer emails when he was sent with questions. We had sent a few emails prior to arrival asking about items in the house, we never received an answer to any of those emails. He was advised when we arrived that there was a urine sample (YES URINE SAMPLE) in one of the cupboards, bags of garbage left in the garage as well as the crisper door falling off the fridge when we opened the door......all we received was a text stating "my apologies I know the cleaning people came". There was no offer to come and remove the urine sample (absolutely disgusting) We also found empty beer bottles and garbage under one of the beds the owner thanked me for letting him know and said he wasn't sure why there was a poor cleaning job this time. The listing states lake rights and beach access...........we were not able to locate where this lake access was! There are no knobs on any of the kitchen cupboards so opening some of them was extremely difficult. On checkout the owner advised us to leave the garbage on the ground on the corner of pawnee and rte 28. When we went to do this we were stopped and advised that we were going to be fined and that this was not allowed. We ended up having to take the garbage with us and had to go and locate a dumpster. This could be a very nice rental , but we will not rent again due to cleanliness issues and poor communication.

Could be a great rental but needs some TLC
This condo has cabinets in the kitchen with NO pulls you have to grip by the side or under the door to open. It has great bunk beds that have box springs but no mattresses. None of the beds have mattress covers or covers on the pillows. The sheets and pillow cases are all you get. You are also responsible for making up any beds you use when arrive. The washing machine leaves green spots which is on the sheets and of course our clothes. The house is large and well laid out, generous amount of silverware and dishes for a large group but it does need some TLC.

Our Nature Getaway
The property was beautiful - a real log cabin experience, perfect for our group of 12 family members. The kids loved the rocky hill right behind the house and spent quite a bit of time climbing it and exploring. The wildlife encounters were incredible, even though seeing a bear up close to where we were staying was a little scary. We had deer coming right up to the house every day. The only downside was that we had to set mouse traps in the house. Our first night there, the mice had a feast. After that, we were ready for them. This isn't a complaint about it. After all, we were enjoying nature and that's part of nature.

Spacious, well equipped and updated
We have stayed at numerous other properties in the area and this one, by far, has been the most spacious, updated and well equipped. The four bedroom and three bathroom set up makes it perfect for a multiple family stay. The appliances are all new and very nice. The ground level has a nice bar and a cozy, wood burning fireplace which is where we all gathered and relaxed in the evening. There is also a bedroom and bathroom on that level as well. The house is very convenient to town and just a 10-15 minute drive to Eagle Bay and Inlet. We enjoyed our stay so much, we have rebooked for later this fall!

Better on inside than out
Very nice home and very spacious. Good place for large group. We like to be outdoors but there is no outside eating area. I think it’s the only thing lacking. We were able to sit outside and used the fire pit every night. We brought our own canvas folding chairs since there were only 6 Adirondack chairs in the photo. Did contact the owner twice and he was very very nice and super accommodating.

Perfect camp for snowmobiling!
Upon arrival the house was immaculately clean and linens/towels were provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances and anything you could possibly need for your stay. We rented this house specifically because of the access to snowmobile trails. Trail 4 is located just down the street and the only road riding is when you cross 28. We had no problem with cable or internet during our stay enjoyed every minute of our time there. The only drawback for snowmobiling is the driveway. When we arrived it was not plowed from the snowfall the night before. We contacted the owner and he was more than happy to send his guys over to plow, but at that point we had already gotten the trucks and trailers parked. The upper driveway is only suitable for cars and no trailers when it has snowed. The incline made it nearly impossible for a truck and trailer to make it up. We were still have to get one truck and a 4 place trailer, a truck with a 2 place trailer and 3 cars in the driveway with room for the sleds once they were off the trailers with no problem. Everything else about the house was absolutely perfect. I would recommend it to anyone and would love to stay again!

Weekend snowmobile trip
This house was perfect for our snowmobile trip. It was very clean and had quick access to the trail system. Everything in the house was in great condition and looked new. Working with the owner (John) was very easy. He was very responsive and accommodating. We’ve already started thinking about booking it again. I would highly recommend this house to any snowmobile enthusiast looking for a great place to stay. You won’t be disappointed.

Not what was expected!
This property showed very nicely in the listing but we were very disappointed when we got there. When we got there the listing said it had Internet....there was none. We reached out to the owner and spoke with him but were told on the phone that there was a bad connection and he would call back. NEVER CALLED BACK! I had asked if linens were furnished and was told yes. Well for 12 people they left us 6 bath towels and 3 hand towels. No washcloths or bathmats for floors. I guess we were suppose to share towels...I bought washcloths in town. You can't really enjoy watching TV together. The TV's are on the lower level and there is 1 couch for furniture.....that's it! There is a smaller TV behind the bar on the lower level also but is very close to the other one so no one can really watch it at the same time. The upper level has no TV but does have hook ups for one. This is where we hung out a lot as it is the kitchen area also, the fan upstairs had dust so thick it was hanging off the blades and the light over the kitchen island had cobwebs around it, I think we left it cleaner than it was. The outside could use some TLC and cleaning up also. Furniture was sparse for 12 people. 1 couch downstairs, 1 couch upstairs and a chair other than the table and benches. Beach access is down the road and not sure where the boat launch is. The fire pit you need to take in and out of the garage. If you use any of the wood you also have to replace it or are charged a fee. We enjoyed ourselves because we were with family and made the best of it but the place itself left a lot to be desired and we would not rent it again.

Difficulties in getting security deposit refund from owner
While the property and home are new and in good condition, I found this homeowner difficult to deal with. We checked out on Aug 18, 2018 and left the home in excellent condition. One week later I still had not received my security deposit refund. I texted John to ask about status of the refund. He responded that refunds occur automatically. I replied that I had previously experienced, with a different homeowner, a refund the same day as check-out. He responded that he could do that but he was going to "just let VRBO handle it". I waited 2 more weeks and still no refund. I texted John and there was no response. I waited a few days and texted John again. He responded that he would look into it. I wait 2 more weeks and then contacted VRBO. They told me that security deposit refunds are never automatic and certain actions are required by the homeowner in order for a refund to occur. None of those actions had been taken by John. I filed a formal complaint and VRBO put a hold on John's account. Six days later VRBO was able to refund my security deposit using funds from John's frozen account.

There was an issue at this time where some customers were getting auto refunded and some were not. VRBO representatives were telling me that the refund was in process. The customers issue here should have been with VRBO not me. In the end she got her deposit back and there should be no issue here. It is now running smoothly with the security deposits and the money is being returned to the renters automatically in a timely fashion.

Amenities not as described
The house was very nice, however we had no internet ,TV, and no trash pick up. The neighbors were rude. We were promised a discount for these inconveniences but as of today we have not received one.
