Palm Terrace - Romantic beachfront dining terrace overlooking the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea. White wrought-iron chairs with blue-and-white-striped cushions. “very impressed”

The service was really nice. The food was tasty .The workers were very focused and dedicated.The beach was perfect,just steps from your dooIt was a beautiful experience.

“Wonderful staff”

The staff make this hotel. They always have a smile for you. Management not so much. Don't expect this place to be perfect as it is a little dated but if it's genuinely helpful people, good food and a good location on a beautiful beach you want then this is the place for you. Donovan, Clifton (aka scottie) Smiley, Dunn and Price we are missing you already, thank you all for making our holiday special. Sonia bless you and thanks.

“Staff Absoulutely Made the Difference”

Had an absolutely great time and that is solely because of the professionalism, courtesy and geniue spirt of most of the staff namely, Denver (entertainment), Ms. Rose(Dinning room), Donovan (bar), Smilie (bar), Brooks (water sports), Steve (kitchen), Macey (front desk), Ms. Hazel (hosekeeping) and Dunn (bar). After only two days my family (Dad and wife) were greeted with smiles all the way around. The bar staff knew our favorite drinks and let me be honest even my quirky eating habits...time and what we were most likely to enjoy or order from the menu. FOOD AWESOME! The line staff more than conpensated for the lack of quality service from managment particularly that of the resident manager who never stopped to acknowledge our presence, responded to any greetings or interacted with guests despite being on the property almost all day....no good morning etc despite practically staring you in the face..nothing of the typical Jamaican hospitality. We felt safe and secure at all time. Absolutely love the fact that I step out my room and there was the beach. Beautiful views/sunset from the lobby balcony. Added plus was wii fi service however it would be better if this was not limited to the lobby. Overall property could do with some upgrade and owner/management investment in onsite entertainment. Nice and quite yet close to major attractions and night live in Ocho Rios and other larger resorts. Would definately repeat stay.

“"I'LL BE BACK "”

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the SHAW PARK BEACH HOTEL. The great caring and efficient staffs made our stay a really memorable one. This hotel will be my first in my future travel. I have mentioned and in the future will let my friends and family know that this hotel is a place that they can rely on for comfort, care and relaxation. Before closing, I would like to point out one little sour spot that need cleaning up. We were there for ten (10) days. There was this person, who we were told is one of the managers. He needs to be more customer friendly. He passed us on numerous occassion, and not once for the ten days had he say hello.

“We shall return again”

If seclusion, great food, excellent and friendly staff, clean rooms and plenty of beautiful surroundings is what you crave. This is the place to go. Never have we had a more romantic vacation. Plenty of hot water which is not the case at some resorts. No peddlers of any kind. Disco and spa were great also, as well as the water sports. But I must say this also. If you're leaving the airport. It's about a 2 and half hour drive because they stop at many resorts to drop off other guest. Otherwise go for it. It's a great resort.

“First time in Jamaica, last time at Shaw Park Beach Hotel”

I may go back to Jamaica but definitely not Shaw Park Beach Hotel. My expectation might have been too high and that was a last minute deal.

“Aging beauty queen”

This lovely place is tucked away from the commercialism touristy stuff. You will not be harassed by hawkers while staying here. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. Get to know them. They seem genuinely interested in getting to know you. The hotel itself is aging and needs some maintenance. Book your trip early and get a room as close to the front desk as possible. These rooms are the best! Never had a problem with hot water except for the one day the main water line broke to the entire hotel. The AC in the room wouldn't get below 78 until I fixed it. Luckily I own a HVAC company and knew how to put the cooling valves in bypass mode. After that, no problem man! If you are looking for a night life, this is not really the place for you. They have a disco straight out of the 70's. We made it our own and kept ourselves entertained until the wee hours of the morning partying with the bartender Willy. The beach bar closes at 11 but Willy and Smiley will make every moment worth it. The entertainment director does the best he can with the limited resources he is given. Drunken karaoke was hilarious late at night. During the high season, all beach and water activities and equipment are available. As for other means of entertainment, it is readily available from pretty much anyone. Just feel your way out and keep it on the DL if you buy from hotel staff. Over all, I was very pleased with Shaw Park and will come back.

“The owner needs to take classes on management. All the staff were wonderful”

A few minor things that did not interfere with a great time. No tv, no towels for 2 days, room not ready for 95% of guests till next day, otherwise would go back.

“Hotel doesn't live up to its site”

Resort has a beautiful, quiet beach and is intimate--only two stories. Staff is friendly and we got to try a lot of Jamaican food. But it is so run down! The air conditioning is old and inadequate, veneer peeling off doors, paint worn off furniture, tile cracked and pitted, musty smell. Room was impossible for housekeeper to clean well. We paid for a "Superior Beachfront" and it did have a great view, but the room was inferior and substandard. There is a newer section; perhaps rooms there are better. It was difficult to book tours because there were not enough guests staying there to meet the minimum quota. We did not consider this a good value or a good experience.

“not impressed”

Need updating, need top self liquor, more variety of native food given the hotel ambiance. Smiley and Simone were very accommodating. Love the privacy of the beach. no night life, music outdated.
