“Clau.d.r”

Never stay in this Hotel! It's totally disgusting! My room had a terrible smell and it wasn't clean, was possible to see hair in everywhere! Not talking about the bathroom, unbelievable how a hotel like this can still be open. The carpet was really old and again terrible smell! I stayed 15 minutes in the room, and was impossible to stay there, had to leave! I had my money back! THANKS

“Just OK”

This place is well suited for an extended stay. I doubt we'd stay again though. The chairs in the room had unknown stains on them and the bed wasn't all that comftorable. It was well situated for shopping and trips into DC. Construction in the area made for quite a mess with traffic. I guess for being close to DC this was a decently priced place. I'd pay more for better next time

“Not Impressed.”

I've stayed at nicer Comfort Inn's and Motel 6's. Definately on par with a really cheap hotel stay. Lumpy, uncomfortable beds, no amenities, no customer service, no maid service. Generally bad. The neighborhood wasn't too bad, but the quality hotel experience just wasn't there at all. Cheap everything.

Area recommendations
I was attending a meeting in Tyson's Corner and so the hotel location looked good on the map, but after getting there I realised that the Marriott was right down the street and would have been a much better choice. I was hoping for something by the Metro, so I could go into Washington D.C. and site-see, but I would recommend the Marriott, even if it's a little pricey - it's worth it!

“Tysons Tyme”

Looking for a reasonable, no-frills, no-nonsense place to stay in the Virginia suburbs of DC? This is a good pick. It's right at Tysons Corner, which is a major commercial hub in the DC area, near any number of restaurants, but it's very quiet and almost feels secluded (it's right on the edge of a residential neighborhood, and is on a through street but nowhere near as busy as the main highway 2 blocks away). No frills, as I said -- you can opt for as much or as little maid service as you want. For a long weekend stay I opted for none, which worked out just fine. TV was good, Internet access good, temperature control in room good... a pleasant bench out front for smokers... really satisfactory in all respects.

Area recommendations
There is plenty of info. on the Web and elsewhere about Washington, DC. The nearest "attraction" to Tysons Corner is Wolf Trap Farm Park -- an excellent summer venue for all sorts of performances and cultural events. It's a few miles further out from town, off the Dulles Toll Road. Also not too far away -- Great Falls Park, and the Udvar-Hazy aeronautics museum at Dulles AP. In the other direction you have Old Town Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC, of course. There are also plenty of local parks and various Civil War forts and colonial farm sites in the area.
When to go
Summer is just not a good time to be in the DC area. Too crowded, too hot. Much better to go in the spring and fall if you can.
Getting there
Tysons Corner is right on the Beltway... and yes, it's an intimidating road and very crowded during rush hours in particular... but there are really no other good choices. For more local travel, Route 7 is the way to get there from farther out in Virginia (to the NW) -- but again, you have to contend with rush hour.
Getting around
The DC area transportation infrastructure leaves much to be desired when you get out to the suburbs. But it is possible to find a Metro (train) station with public parking -- although it can get full quite early on weekdays. If you have to use a car be prepared for traffic, at any time day or night!
Dining
If you like Korean food, Annandale, VA is a huge Korean neighborhood with dozens of restaurants. It's fairly easy to get to from Tyson's Corner via Gallows Road.
