“Best Hotel EVER”

This was my second stay at this hotel. I had stayed in May of 2011 (3 nights)as well as this time in Dec 2011 (4 nights). Both times were for business. I was impressed on my first stay with the cleaniness of the entire Hotel, including my room. On my second stay again everything was perfectly clean, including my room, so this was not a fluke, This Hotel is maintained in tip top shape. The quality of the bedding, the towels and the furnishings in the room and throughout the Hotel is impressive. I highly reccomend this hotel to the business traveler or to a family. The free buffet breakfast each morning from 6:00-10:00am is not to be missed.

Don't miss Jimmy's Old Town Tavern on the corner of Elden and Spring, food was excellent!

“Suited my needs perfectly”

I reserved a suite because my wife & I had our 3 grandchildren. They stayed free. The room was large and spacious and the price was excellent ( I may reserve a suite every time if I can continue to get that price.) B y the way, there was space to sleep everyone with no crowding.

“Shot in the dark stay-over.”

We made a random choice on this reservation. We simply needed a place to sleep for the night, before biking the C & O Trail from Great Falls to Harpers Ferry. When we arrived, we were very hesitant about dragging our bikes through the lobby (very clean and comfortable looking lobby), but we were received courteously and warmly by the Hotel's Staff and assured our bikes were welcomed to stay in our rooms as well. The Hotel Clerk (a real sweetheart) also recommended a great place to eat that evening and provided us personal assistance in setting up our laptop with wifi service for the night. Hotel provided breakfast in the morning was more than adequate and when the hotel's breakfast help realized we would be biking for hours that morning, she persuaded us to take some extra fruit for our journey. Wonderful Hotel! Excellent Staff. Great overnight stay.....but too long of a bike ride!

“Great stay in the DC area!”

Kind staff, great breakfast, comfy room.

Area recommendations

Great for a cheap but luxuarious stay near DC! Nearest Metro rail station is only about 20 minutes away.

Getting around

Taking advantage of the Metro is VERY highly recommended

“Very impressed”

This hotel caters to business class folks during the week and does so very well. On the weekends, it is very family friendly with a life guard at the pool and a very accommodating staff and well stocked in-house mini-store. It is a comfortable and very clean environment. We were there the last half of the week to pick up son from a summer session at USNA and then take a weekend tour of historic parts of DC. I only wish this stay could have been a bit closer to the Metro as that is the best way to arrive in DC for self-guided touring.

Area recommendations

If you tour DC and Arlington, you should either: A. Book a tour bus and get a ride to the tour bus agency. B. Take a self guided tour and ride the Metro into DC or Arlington. The orange line takes about 60 to 90 minutes to get from end to downtown. Plan on getting lost at least twice while trying to find the parking for the metro. It can sometimes be well hidden if you're not familiar with the traffic markings and patterns in Northern Virgina.

Getting there

Don't plan on driving into DC any more. Even the locals would rather take the Metro than drive. It's easy to get lost or sidetracked in the fairly aggressive traffic patterns in DC - even my friend who works at the Pentagon will tell you this. If you like driving aggressively, it could be fun. But if you're there to take a relaxing tour, I just don't recommend driving and trying to find parking. We rode the metro prior to and after a baseball game and it was quite crowded. In the 90-plus degree heat, it was sweltering in the crowded subway car. It's not always the glitzy way to travel. Plan your rides around game times and rush hours and you should be fine. Invest in the daily pass if you ride the metro. It's a good value and keeps you from having to revisit the fare box to add money to your pass.
