Overnight stay

Posted 23-Jun-2014
Pros: The restaurant was quite pleasant but both drinks and meals were expensive. One thing stood out above everything else and that was the breakfast. FAB.
Cons: A sign asking guests to be quiet between 10pm and 8am. A supply of wash flannels to purchase. Leaflets regarding local facilities and a map!
Location: As there wasn't information at the hotel, we had no idea what we could do, or what facilities like restaurants, theatres etc., were available.
Staff were very pleasant. Our room was very nice but lacked that extra special touch. We only had one small towel and two medium bath towels, which was fine but there were no extras. Most hotels normally have two towels per person. Air conditioning did not chill and only one window opened, which was restricted, so there was little air able to get in. Unfortunately I left our wash flannels at home and the hotel didn't stock a supply for us to purchase some more, which was a real problem. The TV didn't initially work. Staff were very busy at the time, however, after waiting nearly an hour, my husband took a look at it and managed to get it going. Sadly, our room was above the main entrance and the hotel was very noisy from about 5am.

ok hotel

Pros: The proximity to the office I was visiting. The reception staff and the restaurant staff were helpful. Plenty of parking.
Cons: Cleanliness.
Location: You need a car to go anywhere, which for me was not a problem.
The overall experience was good, apart from a couple of things. The shower hose was leaking and the water was spurting over the toilet even with the shower curtain drawn. I would have thought something basic like this would be observed when the room is cleaned for the next guest. I was only there for one night hence did not complain, otherwise would have done so. the second thing is the condition of the carpet. it did not look well cleaned. I dropped my fleece on the carpet and when I picked it up, some hairs and other bits had stuck to my fleece - if the carpet was cleaned properly every day, then this would not have happened. I fear for those who are allergic to dust.

Very pleasant staff, however, more staff required

Posted 27-Apr-2014
Pros: The pleasant staff
Cons: More staff required and rooms require updating
Location: We stayed as we had weekend tickets for Silverstone. Bicester village is also not too far away
When we arrived at our room our next but one neighbours had their music on VERY loud, the receptionist had already informed them to turn it down but ignored her. However as they were not busy on the day of our stay and we have two young children and one on the way!!, she moved us to an executive suite. The receptionist was very nice and extremely helpful. The suite was quite large but the radiators did not work properly, their were stains on the carpet and the bathroom was very dated. We ate their on the first evening and had breakfast both mornings of our stay, the food was very nice however on the second morning they only had one young woman running around cleaning tables, topping up the buffet etc etc.

Got what we expected

Room facilities good, but a bit hot. Bed too soft, but that's a personal preference. Good buffet breakfast & helpful staff.

OK but a little disappointing

Posted 15-Feb-2014
Pros: It was easy to find, clean, good central location
Cons: As above. We didn't use all the facilities.
We didn't complain to the hotel management so they had no opportunity to correct but there were a couple of disappointing aspects which affected our overnight stay. 1 The room was booked for three people - so we'd expect at least three towels in the bathroom. There was only one in the bathroom and one in the wardrobe. We'd also expect the tea tray to have three mugs etc., not two. 2 The room was too hot and the windows were bolted closed 3 Stayed in room 232 and the biggest issue was an incessant dripping/loud ticking type sound (from the heating?) - really aggravating and enough to keep you awake when too hot to get back to sleep. 4 The loo seat was wobbly. 5 No hotel facilities advice or feedback form in the room (apart from menus) - although there was a welcoming e-mail waiting for us when we got back home. Apart from that, the room was neat, clean and comfortable with a choice of pillows.. p.s. Why don't hotels put car parks near Reception ? - guests get soaked when it's raining.

Nothing was too much trouble

Plenty of parking, quick and efficient check-in and the usual level of comfort from Holiday Inn. Staff were helpful and polite, and when I reported a problem attended to it immediately. Nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly stay there agin.
