We have stayed at this Hotel for many years

Posted 22-Jul-2015
Pros: The location for us is perfect, the staff are polite and helpful and we love staying there.
Cons: New air conditioning units
Location: We attended the European F1 stock car Final And it is really convenient to the track which is 10mins drive away.
We attend a local motor racing event and each year we book this Hotel. The standard has always been maintained and the rooms are clean, comfortable and the Hotel is in a quiete location and a short drive from the city centre. Only one thing I didn't like was the air conditioning unit was so noisy. The WIFI wasn't free and charged on daily basis. I think it was £13.95 a day or there abouts which is quite a lot as I just wanted to use my iPad for personal use and not Business, so I just turned it off and put it in the safe during my stay.

All over the place

Posted 15-Jun-2015
Pros: (Some) of the front desk help
Cons: Air conditioning, WIFI, construction hours and notification.
Location: There is one pub within walking distance. I didn't visit this time but have been there in the past and it's a decent place.
Best part of this hotel was the girl on the front desk during the day for the first few days I stayed. Very pleasant and helpful. Everything else is hit or miss. Air conditioning did work...front desk said they would send someone up...4 hours later after nobody came up and they stopped answering the phone I found the reset button myself. Wouldn't have been such and issue if I could've opened the window more than 2 inches. Full room service was supposed to be available till 11pm and I was really hopeful that would be the case since the hospital visiting hours ended at 10 - turns out they were only open till 10pm but that's ok because the menu shows that they have a healthy assortment of food available 24 hours. Only they don't. Slim selection of sandwiches only - none of what's on the menu. Presumably only what the bartender was able to throw together at home before he started his shift. Bathrooms on the floor above me were being renovated during my stay - which is nice - for the people staying in those rooms in the future but not so much for me who was opting to sleep late as I needed to be up late. Some warning would've been cool - especially about the fact that my sink and shower water was going to be black each morning. The place worked for what I needed it for but it wouldn't be my first choice on the area. Oh, and the internet. Good luck with that!!!

It was a very pleasant bank holiday stay. The room was great and suprisingly there was minimal road noise from Bedford Road.

Nice hotel but too many niggles

Posted 26-May-2015
Cons: See "experience" notes.
Clean hotel, friendly staff, breakfast ok Room ok BUT: Room rather hot; unopenable window; air con that sounded like it was tumbling a tin of bolts; a 2Hz ticking noise throughout the night. Bathroom left a bit to be desired: Wonky toilet flush handle; shower head pipe almost broken; hair dryer that made a dreadful noise when activated; extractor fan didn't appear to work; 1 (one) tissue in dispenser on first day and replaced with 3 (three!) just stuffed in on second day.

Nice little place with a great pub over the road

Friendly staff and an ok place for the price. Passing through in business and suited the purpose. No free wifi which is a bit crazy but at $70 a night forgivable.

Tired and overpriced.

Posted 21-Apr-2015 on Hotels
Very tired hotel in need of a major refurbishment. Executive room was overpriced for what it is and nowhere near the quality of the new Premier Inn rooms which are often cheaper. Check in was poor especially when I was told I hadn't paid for the room via Hotels.com and my card had declined, one which I used there in a stay some years ago, need to buck their ideas up. Unlikely to stay there again until some improvements are made.

Lovely comfortable rooms and a shower to die for.

Double bed for the children not ideal. Only 2 bath towels for 2 adults and 2 children.

Great Service

The staff were excellent here, really friendly and put them selves out to be helpful. The hotel was very clean and well looked after but the rooms felt dated compared to other hotels.
