Great location for centre of York

Posted 04-Nov-2014
Great location. Room ok . Dated. Really warm. Fantastic view of york minster. Disappointing evening meal, and disappointing pool. Not sure I would stay there again.

Good hotel, room in the annex too far!!

Posted 01-Nov-2014
Pros: Big
Cons: Visitors should be warned just how far away the annex really is, especially to the older or infirm people.
Location: Obviously, close to the railway and the famous National Rail Museum. Also within walking distance , the Minster, the City walls.
On checking in, we were told where our room was and then began the long hike! I Had not told them I am disabled and walk rather slowly, but even so, our room was miles away from anywhere. On the plus sign. Our room was fine and the buffet style breakfast was good.

On the station's doorstep.

Posted 30-Oct-2014
Pros: Proximity to the station.
Cons: There were a few fruit flies buzzing around in our room for our stay so this could be improved.
Location: Excellent location right outside the station. Close by to the city centre and so many museums and activities close by.
Lovely hotel right outside the train station. Friendly, helpful staff members, particularly during dinner. Excellent food - both from the bar and the restaurant. Fantastic children's menu, too. Lovely, little swimming pool. Comfortable, cosy room.

Dated in need of a uplift

Posted 30-Oct-2014
Pros: Great location, ease of access and friendly staff.
Cons: Overall a solid hotel. Rooms in need of a refresh...get staff to check bathroom mould. Great value breakfast for a £10.
Location: Location can't be beaten...
We rejected the first room offered as it was right next to to smokers bench so you could not open the window and the shower was mouldy. The next room was much better.

Nice convenient hotel local to train station.

Posted 27-Oct-2014
Pros: Lovely grounds and the locality.
Cons: Food and pillows.
Location: York has so much to offer and the scenery is lovely, fantastic buildings, bridges, cobbled streets, fascinating shops, there is so much to take in.
Hotel is lovely and right next door to York station, room was comfortable and clean but pillows were a real let down, mine had no filling left in it and what was left was very hard, I barely slept all night. The food was the major disappointment, we had booked and paid for the full breakfast, which was burnt, and cold, the scrambled eggs were sloppy, grey and had a weird taste, so we ended up not eating the breakfast. Definitely would not eat a hot breakfast there again.

Okay, not great

Posted 26-Oct-2014
Pros: The location is good, especially if you're using the trains as we were
Nice location right next to the train station and near to a city wall gate. Short walk to the Minster, the Shambles and the Jorvik Viking center. I wasn't real happy with the Garden Wing room that I was assigned, it was a bit cramped, dated, subject to a lot of noise from the road outside. It was also a bit of a hike from the main hotel. I'd have liked to have seen a room in the main building for comparison.

Superior hotel close to city centre

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Cons: Air conditioning, certainly in our room and others like it
Very satisfied with our stay. Facilities excellent, staff polite and helpful. Unfortunately the room was hot and airless in spite of not being heated at the time of our visit. Although tolerable, would have been extremely uncomfortable in summer. Only reason unable to give the hotel a top rating.

Nice hotel in good location

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Nice clean hotel in a great location, walking distance from station, and main city centre. Stairs only to level 3 of 5 levels, so a bit cumbersome getting heavy bags up and down.
