Great Stay

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: The friendly staff.
Cons: The outside of the hotel could be improved a little. Looking at the hotel from the outside gives people the wrong impression about the inside.
Location: The location was just across the street from the beach which was convenient. The shops and restaurants were within walking distance.
I booked this hotel for one night only. This was a last minute decision as we were there for a concert and everywhere else was already booked. I was amazingly surprised considering the look of the hotel from the outside. We also needed a suite and there are not many of those available in Virginia Beach. They also had pastries and coffee in the lobby the next morning. The check in time was for 3:00 however we arrived around 11:00 AM hoping to get in some beach time. I went to the front desk as we were told that if we arrived early, we could get our parking pass until the room was ready. The staff was very friendly and our room was already available!! The room was clean and spacious and has a small refrigerator, microwave and stove. The only concern was there were not dishes or eating utensils. That was okay for us because were not staying long but if you are planning a week, you may want to bring some of your own. There is also no elevator so be sure that you are able to climb the stairs. There are security cameras throughout the hallways and parking lot which is great and put my mind at ease. Overall our party was satisfied. However, if you are looking for something on the beach, this is not the place.

Choose a different hotel.

Pros: The only good thing about the hotel was it's location - only one block from the beach.
Cons: Clean this hotel. Provide a real continental breakfast.
Location: The location is very good. One block from the boardwalk and the Neptune statue. Unfortunately, there aren't many places to eat within a few blocks.
We booked two rooms with 2 adults and 1 child in each. The rooms were generally dirty. Didn't look like they vacuumed in months. Probably only mopped the floors with bleach and left it at that. Sand and dirt in all the bathroom corners. Shower/tub was dirty with hair from previous guests in many places. Hair in the towels. Continental breakfast was a severe disappointment. You get coffee, orange drink (not real juice) and a tiny assortment of pre-fabricated "danishes" which were pretty much made of chemicals. I asked for fruit or something else but nope. The ad said free breakfast. Coffee and a crappy danish is not breakfast. We will never stay there again.

Nice hotel. Close to beach

Stayed at hotel for 2 nights, the hotel is close to the beach. Coffee and sweet rolls in the morning. Hotel room was spacious, and I liked that it had 2 TV's, one in the livingroom and one in the bedroom. Overall, a great hotel!!!

Last minute booking

This hotel was very spur of the moment. It was larger than I expected with two full beds and a pull out sofa in another room. Wasn't bad to sleep in.... I would have liked a newer room but it served the purpose.

Surprise room

This hotel was near the beach so it was convienent. I wasn't expecting much, but when I walked into my room I realized it had a mini kitchen area, living room area, and a separate sleeping area. I was pleased.

Friendly and Filthy

After checking in to this hotel, I toted my luggage to the second floor room to find that the key card was not functional. Feeling uncomfortable about leaving the luggage and going to the office, I had to tote the luggage around until they decided to give me a different room all together. Immediately after opening the door and taking a step into the room, I was overwhelmed with the stench of the filthy room. After driving for thirteen hours, I was in no mood to clean, but the room was unfit and I was forced to scrub and sanitize all of the surfaces. There was stains on the furniture, food caked into the microwave, and hair in the tub drain. At least they had the decency to remove the trash and replace the liners. The cleanliness was not the only issue; the thermostat was not functional, so you spent much of the time sweating. I would only suggest booking a room here if you are strapped for cash or dont mind bringing some cleaning products with you.
