First time to Noboribitsu and it was great. It deep down in the mountains in its own little town. Definitely would have to take a bus or taxi in to get to the town
Staff is excellent. The building is a bit dated but good enough and clean for us. The suit (2 rooms) is so spacious. We have a choice to sleep either on the “tatami “ or bed. We had the Half Board (Breakfast and Dinner) definitely worth for the money and experience. The hike in the surrounding area was excellent. Recommend strongly 😀
Booked two rooms for my family and they upgraded us to two bigger rooms. The property is a little antiquated and small, but still well maintained in spite of its age, and retains quite a bit of charm. Location wise it is slightly further away compared to the other properties, so requires abit of uphill walking. There is an indoor and outdoor onsen. I enjoyed the quietness and calm of the propert the most - it was very healing.

Nice place to stay if u want to get out of the city for some peace and quiet. Dining is not easy to find. Many places are closed when we were there. The hotel service staff were excellent but while the onsen was good, it’s very old and run down.
Wonderful Japanese style inn. Excellent meal, delicious Japanese food is served in your room. Onsen water quality was outstanding! Staff was friendly.
Older building, but still worth to visit.
We will return!
A bit old. Plenty of room space. Friendly staffs and service. Famous onsen water but the onsen facility is aged and update would be be appreciated.

They’ve seen better days
I was singing ‘I’ve seen better days’ song the whole time. The building was a little run down and bath/spa was dark and slippery. They have very nice specially made tatami at the reception with carp embroidery. Staffs were somewhat upbeat and nice.
A very nice small hotel, unfortunately they are not realy separate smoking and non smoking rooms

Chose this ryokan to avoid tour groups & hectic buffet breakfasts.. However age has caught up with this ryokan. In need of some major upgrading. Room carpet appeared worn out, safe n bathroom harkened from 1980s. Onsen was dank. The water's high sulphur content probably explains the crusty pool bottoms. Large drops of condensed steam dropped from the onsen ceiling on unsuspecting guests' head as they soak. Certain part of the ceiling appeared to be balking and was in need of urgent attending to or repair. The only outdoor pool was alright except that guests from adjacent hotel could peek over the bamboo fence and foliage at one side of the pool. If you are looking for a kid friendly ryokan, this ryokan may been suitable for you. Cot in the female onsen, crying child at next door onsen, an infant doing the same in the adjacent room. Dinner and breakfast were sumptuous and expectedly heavy. Our elderly floor stewardess was polite, attentive and is the best part of our stay in this ryokan. Unlikely we will return..

very traditional onsen ryokan
spacious room
two indoor onsen, male and female, but only one outdoor onsen, male in the morning, female at night
the outdoor onsen was a little bit disappointing, small, not much view
The hot springs were so hot and the cuisine was amazing

Great Onsen
Bit run down overall. Bit on the side of town but easy walk to anywhere you might want to visit or to get into 'town'. Onsen is very nice, different temparature baths and right from the source
A very traditional ryokan stay. Opted for half board and food was good. Location about 5 mins from shopping street where there were lots of food. 10 mins walk to hell valley. Service provided was good and staff were polite. Hotel staff drove us to the bus terminal for our bus to the train station.

I booked a 4 person room. However, the hotel insists that the booking is only for a room type but not for the additional beds. This really doesnt make sense since i would presume i have 4 beds given i booked a 4 person room. Other than this the staff is pretty friendly and polite. Nice osen.
Nice ryokan with really big 2-in-1 rooms, we had the one with both tatami and western-style bedrooms. Ryokan onsen was great too. Location is central and walkable to town, Jigokudani Hell Valley and down from Oyunuma Natural Footbath. Ryokan provided breakfast and dinner was good! Free parking for self-drive. Staff were friendly though spoke little English.
This is a very homely hotel amidst large-scale hotels in the same town and offers a quiet retreat as described by others. Staff at the reception and room service were all extremely polite and informative and we got along well with barely any knowledge of Japanese language. We opted for the half board stay for two nights and the meals were amazing. The breakfast was a very generous spread and the dinner sets were stunning. The standard dinner menu was quite a feast in itself and we upgraded the second dinner to the wagyu beef dinner set which was way too much food to finish for us. There is an outdoor and indoor onsen, which has a fixed schedule of rotation to be used by the opposite genders. Do note there are 3 options of timings for meals to be served. A nice little touch they had was a little jammer pro musical set at the lounge in replacement of a live band.
The staff were so kind and provided the best service. But the futons were not clear and it seemed that no one cleaned the onsen area even though it says they do when they switched women's and men's.
This hotel excells in everything above the already high standards in Japan. Friendliness, cleanliness, service, good size rooms. Excellent location, about 10 minutes walk into town. Bus from the railway station stops very near the hotel. Recommend highly.

Old traditional hotel but serves its purpose. Clean and staff are heart warming with excellent service.
The hotel was well located, close to the area’s attractions. You can tell that cleanliness is really key to the staff , as they take great pains to ensure that everything is super neat and clean. The staff are extremely friendly and was so helpful to us during our stay. Massive kudos!
Walking from bus terminal to hotel is a challenge during snowing.
The hotel information on Expedia was not entirely accurate as we were asked to top up for extra guest. During booking, Expedia should have provided the option for the total number of guest staying instead of just indicating the total number of guests can be accommodated.
If you don't book meals with the hotel, the only options are in the shopping street about 10 minutes walk away.

Good dinner and excellent service
The onsen was abit run down. Services and crab dinner was good. We was not sure if wa the right hotel as it was dark and snowing. The staff approached us at the car park in front to confirm our booking.
