"Spent a full week at the JW Marriott and had a really great time with my family (wife and 2 girls 10&11). The hotel was really great when it comes to the pool, beach, staff, parking, and rooms. But really the only downside, is that even for a guy who does pretty darn good for himself, the food prices are just plain crazy, and the selection is very mediocre. $24 for a ham sandwich people, $26 burgers, $22 chicken strips, and if you want to eat at the italian buffet $50 a person for mediocre...

"The hotel was just amazing. Comfortable clean quiet and perfectly located. With two of the most amazing beaches in Costa Rica on your doorstep. With regards to the hosts, you couldn't ask for more helpful and lovely people to be looking after you. I would recommend this hotel to everyone but make sure you have hired an AWD vehicle. It's a slice of paradise in the jungle"

"Liked the propert landscaping. Didn't like that the condo we stayed in was infested with large ants Told the guard at the gate about the ants and the condo was sprayed. Many ants died but when we left the infestation was worse than ever. Didn't like that there was no communication with management and the office was always closed. "

"I definitely enjoyed our time at Occidental, the staff are all super nice (especially someone working in the entertainment of the resort, I forgot his name, who took the time to learn our names and would always say Hello and was overall such an amazing person)and the location of the hotel is in a nice little corner on the beach allowing you to swim in a natural current that is between two beaches. It was our 10 year anniversary and the hotel provided us with a nice bottle of wine when we arrived and a nice surprise in our room with flowers! Thank you!! Some things they should do to improve satisfaction: 1. Shower head in our room was old and was not pouring the water properly. 2. Cleanliness of the pool more often. 3. Consider cooling the pool for super hot days. 4. They had an event during our last day that they only advertised 30 minutes prior to. They should definitely advertise this to the guests more in advance as it was a fun show to watch and I feel like more guests would enjoy it with proper advertising for said events. Thank you for the amazing stay!"
