“Lovely hotel just a bit far out!”
The hotel was lovely, the bathroom was quite small but everything worked ok and we had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the tv had all the channels you could need. The staff were very helpful with everything we needed. We didnt eat in the hotel so i cant say what the food was like or what the prices were like. One small problem was that it was a bit noisy but you are so tired by the end of the day you should have no problems falling asleep. Overall the hotel was great although when we go back we will stay in a cheaper hotel that is closer to times square because the hotel is a bit out of the way, but for anyone who is not bothered about being close to times square and broadway then i would recommend this hotel.
“VERY plesant and comfortable stay”
On check-in we were upgraded to a one bed suite which was absolutely amazing, such a great size and made the stay even more comfortable. All of the hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location is quiet but easy walking distance to Grand Central. The Amish Market across the road is great for picking up some really nice food.
“Fantastic hotel in NYC”
I have just returned from a stay at the Alex Hotel and can honestly say that it was worth every penny! We had booked a deluxe double (which was their standard room) and at check-in, we were upgraded to a suite on the 31st floor. The suite was extremely spacious for a hotel in Midtown and had fantastic views on both sides; through the living room window we could see the East River and on the other side the Chrysler building. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great position within 5 minutes of Grand Central and easy walking distance of Fifth Avenue, Times Square etc. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend it!
“SUITE DEAL”
We love the suites here: the fridge allows you to self-cater from the wonderful Amish market shop across the street and from the food shops at Grand Central. Also ice in your freezer helps you to avoid mini-bar prices. With suites breakfast is included and there is great variety of high quality. Staff are welcoming; the bar happy hour midweek to 8pm is another great feature! Lots of wardrobe and drawer space for storage.
“one of the best hotels I have stayed in.”
Nice staff, Good food, cant foult it.
“A good place to stay”
We were very happy with 'The Alex'. Although the room faced the street, we heard no traffic noise. Service was good and not obtrusive and everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom, too, and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely go back there again. Whilst not in the hub of things, we felt we were within walking distance of most things we wanted to do and see. Checking in and out with our Expedia voucher worked a treat. We did not try the food as it was a bit pricey, but we found a good diner across the street for breakfast. It would be nice to be able to make a cup of coffee in the room, but this does not seem to be the norm in New York hotels. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay.
“Amazing”
Really good hotel & friendly staff, in a great location to see all the sights & the entire trip was amazing.
“Brilliant”
The generous room upgrade helped a lot, but we loved The Alex largely because the staff bent over backwards to be helpful and friendly. Our penthouse room was larger than our London flat, extremely comfortable, offering views of the Chrysler Building lit up at night. Loved the place.
“Excellent Hotel.”
Used the Alex for a 4 night break for myself and wife, studio suite which was fine but not as big as i thought it would be, staff very helpful, never disturbed in room by cleaning staff yet it was always cleaned and sheets changed daily (i never noticed the small ticket regards bed changes until last morning!!) Read a review recommending a high front facing room which i requested and got no problem, superb view of the Chrysler building and East river. We never eat at hotel so can't comment on food, cocktails in bar were good though!! All in all, a very pleasnt stay and good location for all midtown Manhattan sights. 5 mins from Central Station and about 1/2hr walk from Central Park.
“Felt like going home each night”
We had a lovely stay at the Alex and would reocmmend it to anyone. We had a 1 bedroom suite and was as big as our flat in London. Very comfortable and very helpful staff. The gym was handy too.
