The only thing that was great about the Sonder Duane was the staff--every last one of them was pleasant and helpful. The building seems to be an old hotel with a makeover that is now tired and showing wear and tear: the elevator is very slow, the hallways are narrow; the windows don't open; there were lots of spots where scratches had been painted over; and the shower grout was stained. The hotel was clean, but I missed having the room tidied on a daily basis.

THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER
THEY ARE AWFUL. I had no less than THREE different issues on a three night trip. I spoke with MULTIPLE customer service representative and they lied about giving me a refund (only sent me back partial of what was promised).
They moved me locations the day before I left and didn't tell me. Not within the same hotel but ACROSS TOWN.
They gave me a different room than I booked and PROMISED it would be the same but it wasn't and then they HUNG UP ON ME when I complained for the THIRD time.
The room itself was fine. Everything else was fine but because we had SO many problems and their customer service can't be relied upon I will NEVER book here again and I wouldn't trust them if I were you.

Best Birthday Trip Ever!
We had an excellent stay at Sonder Duane St. The neighborhood is quaint, quiet, and very accessible. There are many options for food, beverages, and shopping. I would highly recommend this place for your trip!

Awful stay
A complicated digital check-in process. Nobody at the reception. Very small room on the 2nd floor right on the street. Pictures on website totally misleading very expensive for a miserable experience. Never again will I go to a Sonder hotel.

Room was very cold no matter how high I turned up the heat, I did not call the front desk thinking I had done something wrong with the thermostat the first night and after the second night I was leaving anyway but left early after sleeping in my clothes, also switch light to the right side of the bed was torn off the wall
I stayed for four nights. No cleaning service. When I asked about it, I was referred to the Q&A section of their website. I learned that there is a $40 charge per cleaning. I wasn’t thrilled about the unexpected surcharge, but was really angry when I tried to schedule a cleaning and it wasn’t available. I won’t stay there again.

Fantastic stay! Great location and the staff were so kind and helpful!
On the evening of 31st of December elevator didn’t worked and got fixed the next evening
I’ve checked out almost an hour later than I should, and in less than hour I had people coming 5times to knock on my door
When I check out there was 5 employees, no one greeted me
Great stay. Fabulous staff.

The room was not made. We had to ask for a duvet. I had to ask for coffee. There was no toilet paper, or any glasses.

I was very excited about this stay. As soon as we arrived it all went downhill. The app told us how much would be owed at the hotel and that’s what we were ready for. When we got there we had to pay 145 that we were never informed about. The app did not tell us that the hotel wouldnt have anything available. No room service, no breakfast, NO COVERS, no restaurant as advertised and It was also advertised as having a claw foot bathtub that wasn’t there. We had to eat from around the area so that ruined our anniversary and broke our pockets and the hotel had already taken most of our money. Also the thermostat didn’t go up any higher so it was freezing both nights and they only had hard sheets to give us that “might help a little”. The only good things were that it was very clean and rooms were soundproof. Very disappointed.

The hotel was closed. They sent us a message hours before our arrival that we did not have the chance to see (we were getting married). When we arrived to the hotel an employee who was smoking outside told us they “relocated” us to another hotel down the street, the Hilton. It turned out to be significantly inferior in quality. All around a bad experience, on our wedding night no less.

Firsteble the hotel is close and when you arive there they will send you to another hotel like 10 blocks aways from there which is cheaper than the hotel that i booked. Terrible

Right location. A few minute walk to 9/11 Museum. The hotel was very clean and the room was really nice. The staff was awesome! Would definitely stay here again.
