Pre-COVID, Hotel Lex48 was one of my favorite boutique hotels. The rooms were new and fresh, the mini bar was fantastic with a nice selection of wines to choose from and the continental breakfast in the 2nd floor lounge was complimentary.
This is my first time back post-COVID restrictions and although the rooms are fine, the little touches that one takes for granted are missed now that they are not there. The lack on mini bar being the most obvious example. Sure there is a Nespresso machine which I love but the wine and spirits collection has been replaced with a microwave and although there is a mini dishwasher, as with so many hotels, there are no glasses or plates to speak of. Another example of a nice touch that is no longer is the room decor in general. There used to be a coffee table in front of the couch and the end table had some well thought out decorative pieces on it. Now it’s just a scratched black metal end table that would look more suitable at a garage sale.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The on site restaurant has finally re-opened as Brasserie Cognac, which does serve a nice breakfast at a reasonable price for NYC at $20
The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is well-equipped with cotton balls, q-tips and a shower cap as well as a robe for each guest.
