“Rooms are great, hallways not so much”
The service and room was great! The wall paper in the hallways was held up with masking tape and the carpet was worn. I don't know if it is a "new Orleans thing" but the W charged over $40 for three days of Internet access and you could only connect one device at a time to the wifi network. I can't remember the last time I had to pay extra for Internet access at a hotel.
“Service was outstanding!!”
My wife and two teenaged kids were in New Orleans for a long wedding weekend. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly at the W, service was really top notch. The only downside was that the room was smaller than I expected it to be. Great hotel to enjoy New Orleans from, right across the street from Harrah's casino, short walk to the French Quarter or the river front.
“Not what i expected”
For the price expected better
“GREAT!”
Great hotel and trip!!!!!!!
“pretty good but not incredible”
Good hotel in good location. Got a great price and an "upgrade" so it was worth it. The room was just okay. The hotel itself is really nice and a swanky place to be seen if you are into that. Staff is all very, very friendly. Housekeeping is a bit lackluster - they didn't clean/bring fresh towels until evening and when they did they only brought one + some hand towels, slapping them on the bathroom counter. Room didn't seem very clean before or after they came that one time - very dusty blinds and so-so cleaned surfaces and left the empty champagne glasses and bottle from the night before. Shower/tub was annoying as the curtain kept sticking to my body because it was all so small. I wouldn't take a bath there either - too old and not relaxing atmosphere. Just okay. I'd probably stay again though if just staying for a quick trip with friends or something - but didn't love it.
“Overrated W”
Stayed at W New Orleans for four nights. Hotel room was cleaned only one night. Had to call front desk twice for cleaning services. Room was too small and dusty.
“Alot of $ for a little room”
Beautiful Hotel, as W's usually are. But tiniest room I have ever been in and layout...well, you need to stand in bathroom to let someone in the front door. Pricey-35.00 a day hotel guest parking, quick (and 24 hour) room service, friendly people, small pool, but also nice. Alot of partying in the bars on weekends. I think this would be a great place to stay if I was young and traveling alone and money was not an issue. But I am married with a child and it was just too small and expensive for a family.
“Time to Update, W. Is quickly becoming the Holiday Inn of Boutiuqe Hotels”
Shower is less than special!!!, so is the Bed
“Terrible way to spend hundreds....”
My husband and I are New Orleanians and we decided to stay at the W New Orleans for our most recent anniversary because of the great W reputation. WRONG! This W was terrible. The bathroom was so dirty as if the floors hadn't been cleaned in months. The doors, walls and windows were paper thin and we got no sleep at all! We were on the 10th floor and could hear people's conversations on the street not to mention the conversations of our neighbors. Upon check out, we found that our credit card was charged $60 from the bar downstairs and $20 from the minibar in the room, BUT, we didn't go to the bar or touch the mini bar... it's was a fight for a week afterwards to get it all straightened out. Not to mention the $70 breakfast we had was worth about $15 (eggs, bacon, toast and juice for two people). We will NOT be going to the W New Orleans EVER again.
“Not impressed”
The walls were so poorly soundproofed that I felt like I was sharing a room with the people in the rooms on both sides of mine - I could literally hear their entire conversations as they spoke in normal voices. Additionally (and I can only speak for my floor), the noise level was much like I would imagine it would be to spend a weekend in a fraternity house. I'm an experienced traveler and am therefore usually tolerant of "normal" noise levels both inside and outside the hotel. This was not normal! Location was great, the rooms were outstanding in decor, and the bed was among the most comfortable I've ever experienced in a hotel - too bad it was all lost to the noise levels.
