Everything is excellent. If theres inhouse dining thatll make it great for me as most dining places seems to close by 830pm or 9pm.

The idea of making a school into hostel is so creative. Love the atmosphere which makes me feek like I am actually back to becoming a student. The front desk is super helpful and friendly too! Recommend this to everyone who is going to stay in Magome :)

This hostel has been cleverly created from the former school building just outside the picture-postcard town of Magome. The beautiful timber interior is actually reminiscent of a traditional ski chalet and all of the rooms are open and spacious - including the dormitories where beds are located in purpose built capsules or behind partition curtains. All staff are friendly anc helpful. Guests can also get a free lift in hostel’s minibus each evening to an onsen and restaurant at a nearby hotel/resort. There’s a massive kitchen at the hostel if you prefer to prepare your own meals but tea/coffee and a basic breakfast are all offered for free in the lounge area. This all adds up to a great value-for-money stay in the heart of Nakasendo Trail country.

Great accommodation, highly recommend
Great accommodation for a traveler with limited budget. Clean, comfortable and the staff are super kind and friendly (they speak basic English). One of the staff gave me a lift to Nakatsugawa station on my last day. The accommodation includes simple breakfast (bread, eggs and hot drinks) which was very helpful, too. Highly recommend for young travelers from overseas.

A former children’s school, converted to a friendly and unique hostel - closest to a “capsule hotel“ experience but without drunk businessmen. Very spacious and scenic, perfect location for hiking the trails through the ancient villages close by.

Affordable place in a very nice area
It was very nice, better than I thought it would be. Appreciate the free breakfast. Amazing staff. Beautiful scenery, nice view of the mountain and very quiet.

Simply breath taking
I was meant to travel to Tokyo, but a crazy Tokyo weekend had me search for a more out of the way venture. In comes Magome, and particularly gaku. This place was an oasis, a haven in an full travel schedule, the beauty, the sharp change in rhythm, the wonderful place was simply breathtaking. Do it!!!!

The staff were super helpful, bringing us to a gorgeous local onsen in the evening and explaining how it all worked. I had been a little nervous about the curtained twin room in a dormitory, but it ended up working out fine. There is a little safe for valuables between the beds. A simple complimentary breakfast was included. Location is very convenient and quiet.

Excellent Stay
This guest house provided a wonderful stay during our Magome to Tsumago hike on the well maintained section of the former Nakasendo trail. Other guests were respectful of the rules and very quiet. Customer service was excellent. I would highly recommend to friends and family.

全て快適の素晴らしいホステル！
とても快適に過ごしました。お世話さまでした。気が付いたんですが、トイレ内の注意書きの英語が意味は分かるんですが少し違和感がありました。

L'établissement présente plusieurs installations utiles : cuisine et salle de lavage. Toutefois, Les lières du dortoirs ne de ferme qu'en bloc... C'est un petit problème pour les couche-tôt.

Hostel in Form von Dportinternat. Super. Total gemütlich im Holzstil gehalten. Wirkt sehr neu. Kostenloser Shuttleservice zur nächsten Onse bzw. zu dem Restaurant, welches nach 17:00 Uhr noch Dinner anbietet. Rechtzeitiges Buchen sichert den Pärchen noch das Zweibettzimmer hinterm Vorhang im Dormroom.... Das Premiumzimmer mit Tatamis bietet Platz für bis zu 6 Personen. Ist eigentlich für den Schuldirektor vorenthalten. SEHR EMPFEHLENSWERT !!!!

Guest house with nice mountain view
Very quiet place, and nice view of mountains. Nice budget friendly place to stay, before going to Magome Tsumago old post trail. A bit cold on the other rooms except dormitory and reception.

かなり綺麗な廃校で快適でした！ 周りに何もありませんw 何もせずにすごすのにはいいかもです！ 車で5分くらいの温泉がとても良かったです！

Wij hadden een privekamer in dit oude schoolgebouw. Douches en toiletten allemaal heel schoon. Hotel is leuk ingericht. Ontbijtje was includief. Wel 10 minuten lipen naar centrum en vanaf busstation.
