Pros: Hotel accommodation was a bit basic 'travel lodgish', and I thought it expensive for what it was.
The pub and restaurant were very nice, good choice of food and well prepared, but accommodation was disappointing.

Great place to visit

Posted 07-Apr-2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Creaky bedroom floors
We stopped for 2 nights, extending to 3 because it was so lovely. A good place for a base for visiting Northumberland. Great friendly staff and delicious food.

Great service

Posted 19-Mar-2015
Pros: Comfortable and friendly.
Cons: Was satisfied with everything.
Location: It's a country inn so not a lot to do in the close vicinity. Not far from Alnwick. Cragside (National Trust) at Rothbury definitely worth a visit.
Room was great and the bar was very cosy. Food was really good as was the service and friendliness of the staff.

Excellent food

Posted 16-Sep-2014 on Hotels
We stayed at the Cook and Barker because of the restaurant and weren't disappointed. Both evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the service was very good. Being picky it would have been nice to have a local cask ale or two but regardless we had a great stay and will definitely return.

Perfect location for visiting Alnwick

Posted 15-Sep-2014
Pros: The position was very convenient for visiting Alnwick
Cons: The interior decoration
Location: Good. Near castles, National Trust properties and the coast.
The original pub was very nice but the entrance from the car park was terrible, badly decorated and creating a bad first impression. We found the dining room dismal and somber, full of clutter and generally a uninspiring atmosphere.
