“Good value for price”

I found this hotel very easy to reach since it is on the main street coming into town. The beds have always been comfortable. The only glitch is that I have had trouble reaching the internet from my iPad, although no problem when I used my laptop computer. The surrounding neighborhood includes a coffee place, a great ice cream place, and easy access to other main thoroughfares. The desk staff have also been helpful when needed. This is a basic comfortable place, so don't expect all the amenities of a 5-star hotel. However, when I come to visit in Santa Cruz, this is the first place I try to book with Expedia.

“Good value”

Were lucky and got a great room. It's a basic facility, but does the job. Good location. Quiet. Friendly staff. Breakfast is great. Just wish they'd get better coffee.

“Good and inexpensive”

Booked this hotel through Expedia. No problems checking in and the hotel desk clerk was helpful when I had a question about the wifi. I had a room at the back so it was fairly quiet and slept well.

“Convenient place to stay”

We've been back to this hotel a couple of times already. We have a child in UCSC, and it is a convenient place to stay for us. The management, and Indian couple are very nice and do everything possible to ensure you have a good stay. The only item that is below standard is the quality of the coffee in the morning...

“Family/Labor Day Weekend!”

Hotel is pretty small. Pool is not heated and is very small. Continental breakfast was pretty good. Waffles, Eggs, pastires, toast, muffins, juices, coffees, fresh fruit. Pretty impressive. Room and bathroom was very clean. Bigger than I expected. Beds were just ok. Not the best. Only problem was the ceiling in the bathroom was leaking. Manager came right away. Kids in second floor bathroom flooded their bathroom. Parking was kind of tight but oh well. Staff was all very nice. I would recommend only if you don't want a heated pool. My kids were upset that mom didn't book a hotel with a heated pool.

Area recommendations

if you want to be close to the wharf or the boardwalk, this isn't the place for you. However, the closer to those places, the higher the price. And for some places, they don't even make it on the Expedia suggestions. Just sayin

What to pack

No matter the time of year, always pack a few sweaters/hoodies. The ice cream shop directly across the street is amazing. A traditional stop everytime we visit Santa Cruz.

Dining

Woody's at the wharf was such a disappointment. A corn dog at the boardwalk was so much better.

“Spacious room and well furnished”

Pleased with the room, which was much larger than expected. Also had a couch, wide screen tv, refrigerator and microwave, and a table for two. Fully pleased with the accommodations, which were also quiet and far from the main street. Certainly worth the price.

down town area, a little more than walking distance from the motel, had a series of restaurants, also a Farmers' Market, which was fascinating.

“We will stay there again!”

My wife and I booked rooms at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and beds so comfortable. The continental breakfast was good and they replenished the food often. Waffles were great our four kids loved them, along with cereal, sausage, eggs, pastries and toast or english muffins..The great food saved us alot of money. Our only complaint was the rather small unheated pool. So we headed to the beach!

Area recommendations

Capitola had great little shops to just walk around and window shop. Everyone was so freindly, makes you wish you lived there.
