Lovely weekend retreat!

Posted 28-Jun-2015
Pros: Stunning and quiet location, hiking, tennis, fitness center, full-service spa, lovely indoor/outdoor location for events.
Cons: Bed was a bit soft. Only one robe provided in the room.
Location: Tennis, hiking, fitness center, and full-service spa on-site. Endless things to do in Santa Cruz!
All hotel personnel were very friendly. We were upgraded at check-in and were asked what location we'd like for our room. We were happy to be located on the first floor looking out at trees and a ravine with a walk-out patio with chairs and a table. Going onto our patio, we were just steps away from the tennis courts, which were great (although I hear they are resurfacing them in July). Very quiet, even though it was a Friday night. Nice place for families and couples alike.

Pros: the grounds were beautiful.
Greatly, lacking in handicap access!!! The common areas, like the hallways and restaurants, were dirty and in need of a good cleaning.

Chaminade - Santa Cruz

Posted 15-Jun-2015
I have stayed at the Chaminade on a few occasions. The hotel is clean and the units are spread over their entire property. The challenge is the woeful lack of available parking spaces. To make the matter worse, the valet service is not consistent and you may drive around the property in vain to find a place to park...possibly a long way from your room. I doubt that I will return again.

Good vibe

Overall stay was good, good facility ammenities although bed was uncomfortable and feathers poked out of matteress topper. Room did not have a refrigerator like standard hotels. Other than that love the trails, spa and gym.

Cons: The room walls. Very thin. We stayed in room 103. Guests above got up at 7AM and it was impossible to sleep after that.
I had a great time with my 5 year old. We stayed in the first building next to the reception. The property is very large and provides everything we needed. Good food, pool area, great brunch on Sunday morning, etc...

The worst hotel experience we have ever had!

Posted 24-May-2015
As background, we have traveled extensively and stayed in many different hotels throughout the world, and this was by far our worst hotel experience. The rooms and common areas were filthy and looked like they hadn't been updated since the 70's. The hot tub wad luke warm and had brownish stains everywhere, and the food in the restaurant was by far the worst that we have experienced in our travels. Bottom line - DO NOT STAY HERE!

Pros: Landscaping. Outdoor deck with views
Cons: Rooms
Location: Good location
We found the hotel to be very expensive for what it offered. The rooms are glorified motel rooms with tiny bathrooms. The spa fee of thirty dollars per person per day is high for what is offered. The complex is spread out and disjointed. There is a nice restaurant terrace and the landscaping in very well done.

Nice hotel in need of updating

Posted 23-Apr-2015
I HAVE BEEN COMING TO THE CHAMINADE for at least 20 years to visit my family in Santa Cruz I have made the same suggestions for all my years The rooms are too small There is NO place to put your personal cosmetic and cleaning items anywhere in the bathroom NO counter space It is still straight out of the 1970's----- There is STILL NO BAR---for a fairly expensive hotel, they give you few amenities The restaurant is expensive…….. The place is beautiful and charming but the Hotel itself needs improving
