The room was small and seemed a little dated. The bed was not comfortable at all. The surroundings were peaceful and quiet. Overall ... it was somewhere to stay; not terrible, but certainly not great.

Great place to stay.

Posted 29-Nov-2014
Pros: Everything!
Location: Hiking trails on site. Spa and restaurant on site, too.
My husband and I stayed here one evening during our west coast road trip honeymoon. The suite was very nice and had the most comfortable bed of our trip! We saw a couple of deer on the grounds while we were there, too.

Nice hotel

Posted 03-Nov-2014
Pros: The view
Cons: Different options for brunch.
Location: Wedding
I expected to have a better deal on the breakfast brunch for being a guest...very disappointed.

Great employees however the room was terrible.

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: That it was surrounded by trees.
Cons: The condition of the room. They need to start a program to update the rooms and replace the furniture including the bed.
Location: The Hotel sits on a hill top and it is quite a distance from the downtown and the beach.
Great check-in all the employees were very friendly and helpful especially Sarah in the Dining Room where we had dinner. My wife's meal was very disatifying and Sarah did everything she could to make the meal edible for my wife. However the room was a disaster due to the matress needing to replace and the entry door was hard to close all the way and the bathroom stuck in the upper right corner.

Spa & pool nice. Otherwise, disappointing.

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: Spa, pool. The restaurants are also quite pleasant, with a beautiful view.
Cons: The rooms are in desperate need of renovation. I will never stay at this location again, until I see evidence of significant improvement.
The actual rooms are more or less glorified motel rooms. There is nothing particularly positive to note. The bathroom could easily be found in a Motel 6. The "patio" was a 5 ft by 5 ft slab of concrete, with no barrier separating neighboring rooms (albeit, with a nice view of the woods). The buildings are clearly quite old, and the noise level from rooms above is much greater than appropriate in a high-end "resort". Room service was very slow (about 50 minutes from ordering to arrival). The dishes from room service were cleared from our room by housekeeping, but we left in the hallway outside our door for a full 24 hours. The pool area and spa center are quite nice, and were the high points of the vacation. Those features raised the overall rating from a 2 to a 3.

Very nice resort

Had a great stay. Only complaints were the bathroom sink was clogged and the housekeepers didn't make sure everything was restocked every day. Overall great facility.

Great getaway from a getaway

Posted 08-Oct-2014
Pros: the spa and relative distance to the beach
Cons: trails
Location: there are many things to do nearby, starting with the beach and downtown santa cruz. You also have Capitalo Village, redwood forest hiking, bid sur.
This hotel really gave a welcoming vibe from the start and with the activities that can be done within the hotel, it just made my stay very enjoyable and relaxing.

Fantastic spa

I took my mom for a girls weekend. We hiked the nature trail and it was beautiful. We had a facial that my mom is still raving about days later. An overall great experience.

Great Reunion

Posted 23-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Except for the excessive cost of meals, I thought the stay was well planned, the amenities and the valet service were excellent and the room was very well laid out. The maid service was timely and well done and I never came back to an unmade room, quite a treat. We never had the time to test the spa or the swimming pool, so cannot opine on those services. I went to Mission Hill for 5th and 6th grade and then returned for several years at Cabrillo, so found myself in a city I love. My 50th high school reunion was the icing on the cake. Thanks
