Very nice and comfortable resort. Enjoyed the hiking trails on the property, the spa, and the ocean view on the veranda at sunset.

Resort & Spa with old facilities

Posted 20-Jan-2015
We were looking forward to spending some time in Santa Cruz and we were pleased to find this deal through Expedia. However, once arriving to the hotel, we realized that the pictures were more pleasing than the actual accommodation. The clerk at the front desk was super friendly; however, we realized that her 'great recommendations' were soon to be short lived. She was very nice and helped us put our rooms next to our friend's rooms and she also gave us a choice of an upstairs or downstairs room. She recommended that the downstairs room was much nicer since it had access to a large balcony -- we decided to listen to her since, hey, she knows the most about this resort! In hindsight, I should have listened to my boyfriend's recommendation of going with the upstairs room. The room we were given was SO NOISY. We could hear every creak and crack of the guests staying above us. I don't think the guests were doing anything particularly crazy -- just walking around. The 'large balcony' turned out to just be an open sliding glass door into a wooded area (no dividers between the different blocks of rooms). We were also disappointed because the front desk clerk said that we could reserve tennis courts and that they would be able to rent us tennis rackets and equipment. When we called later to reserve a court, we were told that they do not rent out equipment. We probably would not stay here again.

Beautiful Quiet Location

Posted 14-Jan-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Quality control in the rooms and the housekeeping staff
Location: Great to jet down to waters edge without staying in a noisy hotel
Stayed here for a New Years Celebration. The staff at the front desk was delightful and very accommodating. We opted for the New Years package deal so we didn't have to drive into town for dinner and drive back late. The food was presented in different rooms, buffet style. The selection started to get sparse after 9:00 (with 3 hours to go to midnight)! Some of the food was very good and some so-so. The unlimited wine/champagne/beer selection was not even middle of the road quality. We opted for no-host martinis instead. The dessert was marginal as well ( a chocolate fountain). The highlight of the evening was a very good DJ who played a wide variety of music and kept the tempo going. The room we stayed in had 2 queen beds, comfortable. There were some stains on the wall and the bath products are awful. Towels are near the modest range. Coffee maker is set on a bar with no electricity and the coffee is blah.We had to pay $25 per night for a refrigerator to be brought in. The thermostat for the room was never accurate and it was difficult to regulate the temperature (either too hot or air conditioning). We did not eat any other meals at the resort.

Beautiful setting

Our stay at the resort & spa was good. Some of the rooms still need renovating. Bed was lumpy and pillows uncomfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food great. Ground were beautiful. View spectacular. We would stay again and ask for a renovated room.

Beautiful location, friendly staff

My boyfriend and I went here for an overnight get away at Christmastime. The location is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. My only critique is that the rooms were not as fancy as they appeared on the website. However, we had a great time overall.

We stayed a couple of nights that the weather was very cold 32 degrees and the heater took a couple of hours to warm the room.
