We would love to come back in the future. The proximity to the SEKI parks was superb. A great time was had by my family. Thanks again Mahalia!!!

Sequoia fires
We came to this property just as the fires closed Sequoia Nat. park. Smoke from the fire was heavy in the area and affected everything we did. Mahalia came to our rescue and brought air purifiers to the house and extra N95 masks. She also offered to cancel our reservation with a full refund. We decided to stay and were still able to visit Kings Canyon before it closed. It was a very charming house and a very gracious host.

Last minute get away
Our host, Mahalia, was super helpful with great communications and coordination of our stay. The accommodations was accurate as it described on Vrbo. The location is ideal for our preferences: 1. We want a quiet but yet safe cabin away from the crowds. The cabin is strategically located only 20 minutes drive from the King Canyon entrance 2. We want to explore both Parks within the 3 days we have in the park. We were able to accomplish most of the points of interest and one good hiking trial in the parks for our stay. It will be an great location if you do not mind to drive a little bit and stay outside of the park and the crowds. It does get a little hot during summer. The cabin has no AC but has 3 fans and a water cooling fan to down the house at night. It also has a whole house fan to keep the circulation going. The “house guide” provides very useful and detailed instructions on the best way to cool down the house. They recommend to open all the windows at night. It works nicely along with the fans provided. One observation I have is that a few of the window screens have holes so the tiny bugs may get into the house. I have young kids so it presents a slight challenge for them. However, not a big deal since we are living in the nature. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the cabin and would recommend it.

The location is great for accessing both Kings Canyon and Sequoia parks. This is the ideal place to stay and I’d highly recommend!

Great place, local gem
I was thinking not to rate 5 on "accuracy of online listing" as the actual property is much better than online description/impression. Our kids (4 & 9) love this place even though there is no TV. This place is very cozy and CLEAN! It is not big and at first glance on the outside the place is a little bit old, but inside you can feel how thoughtful the owner put together to decorate the house. Like other comments, you may want to prepare food before getting into there as there is no close by supermarket. overall, we love this place and will definitely come back again!!!!

Great Location and Great Place to stay
It was the perfect place to stay to explore Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Just 10 miles to the gate. Very friendly and welcoming people. The place has everything you need. Just bring food (we forgot ours and had to drive 1 hour to the closest big supermarket). It was very clean and comfy. Good wifi but no cell service. They do have a phone you can use. Amazing place
We had an amazing experience staying here. The cabin was extremely clean and nice and quiet. We all really enjoyed the art work on display throughout the cabin. The park entrance is only about 15 minutes away and you can reach Hume lake in 35-40 minutes which was perfect for us. The location in my opinion is much better than the lodges inside of the park, and you get a full house to yourself not just a hotel room. Mahalia was a terrific host was extremely friendly and very responsive to our requests. Once again thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin, it really tied our trip together.

Great Location
The Merrynook cabin exceeded our expectations. It was a spacious house with an eclectic decor that made every room an interesting adventure. It was well stocked with all of the essentials that you would expect in a quality VRBO property. Mahalia met us upon arrival and was helpful in familiarizeing us with the area. The property is just a short drive to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Prior to arrival Mahalia had warned us to bring in with us any food supplies we would need. Great advice since the nearest grocery store is more than 30 miles away. Also make sure that you have a full tank of gas. We did a lot of driving while there and were a little concerned that gas stations were also about 30 miles away. Cellular reception was pretty spotty even when connected to Mahalia’s WiFi. Merrynook was truly a unique property inside and out. We throughly enjoyed our days in Pinehurst.

The Merrynook is a very intriguing experience for those who are fortunate to get the chance to stay here. One is surrounded by interesting collectibles and decor. Giant Sequoias-Warm Retreat
Staying at Merrynook was a delight. It is full of charm! There are so many words to describe this lovely retreat: eclectic, artistic, snuggly, carefree.... There are surprises to be discovered in every corner and so many books you'll never want to leave. Merrynook comes well stocked and is super close to both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. It was a delight to hike all day and come "home" to our own kitchen, a warm fire and the claw-foot bathtub. Mahalia and Bachrun are right there if you need them and are wonderful hosts. Quaint, quiet location to rejuvenate
This location was a great spot for visiting Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Since we were on a 2 week driving trip, the facilities such as washer and dryer, as well as space to spread out and reorganize after a week on the road was perfect. Clean, uber convenient, and spacious!
Thank you so much for the space. It was exceptionally convenient to sleep there, which allowed us more time to visit the National Parks and landmarks in the area. It was a clean home with all the kitchen tools and utensils we needed. It was the right amount of space for us to occupy and the nook for the 2 year old was nicely decorated. We'd definitely seek this place out again. Thank you.

Storybook cottage in an enchanting forest!
We just returned from a week long stay at this incredibly charming, storybook cottage just 20 min from Sequoia-Kings Canyon. The cottage was filled with everything you'd need for a wonderful stay (fully loaded kitchen with coffee grinder & fresh coffee beans!). The home was spotlessly clean and made me feel like I was staying in the house from Louisa May Alcott's Little Women--clawfoot tub, an extensive collection of great literature, and lovingly arranged artwork. We drove into the park each day for hiking, and returned every evening for dinner, board games and stargazing. Mahalia stopped by our first afternoon to make sure we had everything we needed and was easy to reach on the house phone when ran out of propane for the BBQ one evening. This is so much better than staying at a lodge or campsite! We highly recommend staying here, and we can't wait to return. Thanks, Mahalia and Bachrun!

Merrynook is quaint, comfortable and the owners' hard work and talents are evident!
Our family enjoyed our vacation at Merrynook! From there we hiked and explored the Kings Canyon and Sequoia region. Back at the cabin we rested, cooked, read and spent time together as a family. I feel blessed that we had this opportunity. We need to do more to protect and preserve national and state parks, forests, monuments and wilderness areas.
