Very pleasant stay

Posted 19-Oct-2014
Pros: Good night's sleep, helpful staff and clean throughout.
Cons: There is an unpleasant drain smell just outside the main entrance but it does not get inside the building.
Location: Close to bus and train station for excursions.
Recommended by a friend, good location and very pleasant staff. The hotel is quiet in the evening so we had 9 restful nights. Good choice and quality of food for breakfast. The hotel gets quite busy at the weekend but still quiet in the evening.

Clean and comfortable rooms close to bus and rail.

Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: Quiet rooms and a good breakfast selection.
Cons: Complex has a sewage smell around the front door that at times wafts up to the breakfast area. Staff not able to advise on shuttle bus or day trips.
Location: Walking distance to great eating and shopping; and also local bus and train which provide a fantastic and easy to use service.
We are a mature couple who enjoyed the quiet and clean environment of the Monte Malaga, and the proximity to restaurants and shops. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. We found the staff to be friendly buy unfortunately not very knowledgeable about day trips. We had to make our own arrangements with the local travel agent and missed out on one of our planned destinations due to a delay in relying on the Monte staff to make bookings. There is no shuttle available as indicated but the local bus is very close and easy to use.

Nice

Posted 30-Sep-2014
Nice hotel in a good location, close to most things e.g - city centre, airport, marina etc. friendly staff with clean rooms. Only con for me was the limited choice in having a double bed as it seems standard for twin beds and also the beds were abit too soft for me, other than that definitely worth staying while in Malaga.

Comfortable, modern and well-appointed hotel.

Posted 20-Sep-2014
Pros: Comfortable, well-appointed and good value. Clean, modern rooms with all the facilities one could reasonably expect.
Cons: Nothing in particular.
Location: Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, otherwise not much of interest. Rail and bus stations very near - handy for days out and for the airport.
I stayed four nights at the Hotel Monte Malaga which is within 10/15 minutes walk of the town centre and close to bus and railway stations - very handy for the airport (8min journey, trains every 20min) and (cheap!) bus excursions. My room was spacious, as was the bathroom, and quiet, despite overlooking a very busy road. Breakfast was included (though there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby) and was the fairly standard cold buffet + some hot dishes with plenty of choice. I didn't have time to use the tempting pool or gym or the large bar. Staff were welcoming and helpful. I've also stayed at the Hotel Monte Carmelo in Seville: both represented good value for money if you didn't mind not being slap bang in the town centre.

Decent hotel, near bus and train station

Posted 07-Sep-2014
Pros: Staff were pleasant and helpful. Hotel itself was clean and comfy. Pool was decent size.
Cons: Perhaps a shuttle bus to take residents to/from historical center.
Location: Location good for bus and train station, but otherwise not a lot to do. There is a nearer beach (than Muello Uno) west of the hotel -10/15 minute walk

Recomendation is yes but qualified.

Posted 28-Aug-2014
Pros: The staff were very helpful.
Location: The Alcazaba in Malaga was lovely and great value. Casa Avenda for Chocolate and Churros!
The Hotel is in a relatively convenient to beach, center, old city, and many of the sights in Malaga. There is a very nice Panderia around the corner that you can have a reasonable low cost breakfast (assuming you are ok with authentic Spanish experiences and need things too fancy). The room was ok. The staff and people who made up our room did a good job. The pictures make it look a little flashier than the pool and our room looked in reality. This is probably our expectations and perhaps the particular room we booked. In some parts of Malaga, possibly due to the dry season, there seems to be a drains problem so there is a bad smell at times. Unfortunately this was true of the area around the entrance to the hotel where people also seemed to congregate to smoke. Not a good combination. I doubt this is something under the control of the hotel and I am sure it could happen elsewhere at a pricier hotel. The last point worth mentioning is that for whatever reason, twice when we used the safe in the room our code did not seem to open it when we returned. The hotel was great and sent someone up to help. They were able to put in a pass code which opened it in about 10-15 seconds. No matter whether this was our foolishness or a problem with the safe, the lesson from this is that if you have valuables, put them in the main hotel safe, leave them at home, or keep them with you. We enjoyed our stay in Malaga.

Posted 20-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff were helpful and spoke excellent english.
Cons: wi-fi was slow and disconnected at regular intervals
Location: Shopping, restaurants, bars and the marina/port all within a 10 minute walk
Stayed the one night prior to returning home after a 2 week holiday. Very spacious foyer and reception area. Very clean & quiet hotel, only about a 10 min walk from the main shopping and marina area

Great service

Staff were lovely - friendly and very helpful. Room had wood floors and bed was very comfortable. No kettle in room which was unusual. Pool was a good size and the steam room and sauna were an added bonus. Underground parking was good too. Next time in Malaga, I would likely use this hotel again.

Ideal for railway station

Posted 06-Jul-2014
Pros: Convenient for the railway station
Cons: Allow air conditioners to remain on when room vacated.
Location: Away from main town, near to port and stations. Walking times: Scruffy beach - 5 minutes. Main beaches - 20 minutes. Old town - 15 minutes
The Monte Malaga was chosen by us because of its location within walking distance of the railway station as we intended to visit Cordoba. The rail link to the airport is also an advantage. There's a 'beach', 10 minute stroll away, where you can relax, get some beer, etc. and savour the grilled sardines. The hotel offers a good selection of buffet food at breakfast, the coffee machines being a bit confusing at first. The staff were very efficient and helpful. In general, the hotel seemed very popular. There were a few business conventions and coach tour parties. On the whole we had a pleasant and relaxing stay at the Monte Malaga.
