This is a modern business hotel with everything you'd expect including a small exercise room and swimming pool. My room had a cool, minimalist look - white walls with dark red accents and hard-edged lighting fixtures. The size was ample. The single window seemed smaller than usual but thickly insulated and draped.
The air-conditioning and quiet and extremely effective. It found it very relaxing over a two-day stay. I skipped the rather expensive breakfast.
Very convenient location near Part-Dieu rail station in business and residential area of Lyon. Close to subway and bus lines. Easy to get to old town of Lyon. At least one great restaurant nearby (Danton). Across the street from one of Europe's biggest malls. Breakfast buffet OK, but not great. About normal for business oriented hotel. Not 5 star but not priced that way. We would stay there again and will recommend it to friends.
The hotel is fine but the night when we stayed there the AC was not working in the entire hotel. It gets very HOT in Lyon during the summer. Needless to say it was a very hot and semi-sleepless night.
The breakfast was great though. And they have a nice Jacuzzi-pool to relax in.

Our stay at Hotel Mercure was very comfortable - I noticed this was a chain, and am very tempted to just use all of the Mercure hotels in my future trips to France. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff helpful - overall a very positive experience.
Stayed 4 nights and was really pleased with this hotel. Basic but nice and clean and much more spacious than other more expensive hotels I have stayed at. I was after somewhere not too expensive and this fitted the bill perfectly: microwave, plates, cutlery and fridge freezer allowed me to buy some ready meals for the evenings and cut down on costs. Bed was comfortable (though blanket a little thin) but room was warm enough and plenty of storage place. Bathroom was also a good size. Did not make use of the bath but the shower pressure was awesome. Hotel was also a very walkable distance from Part Dieu (inc train station / tram transfer to airport / metro)
Note for anglophones: electric coffee maker available but no electric kettle.
Part Dieu Station serves as Lyon's main station, providing guests access to Lyon's business district in the 3rd arrondissement, Saint-Exupery Airport, and high speed trains to Paris. Many companies have offices in the Part Dieu neighborhood. One of Europe's largest malls can also be found nearby. The Orchestre National de Lyon performs in l'Auditorium de Lyon just north of the station.
