Old hotel, good location

Posted 30-Aug-2014
Cons: Modern time families have a lot of gadgets, it would be nice to have more electrical outlets and faster and secure (WPA2) WiFi internet.
Location: It took us like 15 mins to go to Hollywood Walk of Fame and 30 mins to Universal Studios Hollywood theme park using LA Metro Red line.
This hotel seems to be crumbling with rust here and there, yet spacious rooms and good location. Our room had windows at Vermont ave. which is noisy even at night as these's a firefighters station and a big hospital nearby.

local to metro. central to most attractions.

Posted 29-Aug-2014
Pros: The location was very appealing for this hotel as the metro was only a block away.
Location: walk of fame only 10 minutes away. universal studios only 20 minutes by metro. local to Hollywood&highland centre.
pleasant stay however there were a few weaknesses of the hotel; for example the bedding wasn't changed within our stay which was 9 nights, also the shower was overflowing into the bathroom. the staff were very pleasant as well as the breakfast in the morning which had a wide range however was the same every day with a 10 minute wait for an egg.

Nice hotel that could be better

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Quaint hotel with lovely staff especially Hugo Breakfast staff. The location was good for the price with good access to LA from metro
Cons: Picturesque outside fountain not working. The courtyard had seating and a bar but it wasn't in use. It would have been great in evenings.
Location: Location was good for the metro to get various parts of LA. Nothing in immediate areas but good restaurants within 10 minute walk to Los Feliz
Hotel at a good price in a good location, clean and friendly. Nothing within immediate walking distance. Picturesque fountain and courtyard seating area and bar not in use. Which is a shame as the courtyard area would have been a lovely place to relax after a day's sightseeing.

Nice hotel and great staff. Gift shop was great.

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: Staff was great especially Anna and Cecilia at front desk and Hugo who cooked breakfast. Breakfast was nice every day. Michael in gift shop was great.
Cons: Don't charge for parking or at least reduce the rate. Area is seedy and was uncomfortable about leaving car on street. Display more movie memorabilia.
Location: Went out of area to eat. Everything around was fast food.
Hotel charged for parking $25 per day. A definite turn off. Parked on street but had to feed meters and move car. Missed one time and got a $63 ticket. Was on third floor and did not like room. Asked front desk if we could move and they accommodated us the next day. The room was much better.

Don't judge a book by it's cover

Posted 18-Aug-2014
When pulling up to the hotel I thought this looks nothing like what I booked on the web. Upon entering the hotel and checking in I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are spacious, beds comfortable. Had good amenities in the room such as fridge and microwave. The bathroom tended to flood whenever having a shower as it is more of the wet room style set up. Very roomy bathroom and the hotel gives extra towels to combat the flooding issue. Breakfast is fantastic with such a wide selection and good coffee. Hotel is about 10-15 min can ride to universal studios and Chinese theater locations depending on traffic which can add an extra 15 mins to your ride. Some shops surrounding the hotel for food ect

Lovely hotel

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Car parking charges
Location: Ideal location to get to just about anywhere
I had read some bad reviews about this hotel but I was pleasantly surprised it was lovely. The hotel is beautiful ,the staff are nice, the pool was nice, breakfast was great. I met the owner in the laundry room she was a lovely lady, very friendly. Yes you do need a car to get around but let's face it no walks in America anyway, night or day. My only gripe was the car parking charge. I would love to stay here again.

Staff was extremely courteous and very helpful..

Posted 17-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything....
Cons: We had a couple of lights that did not work properly but I reported that to the front office staff personnel....
Location: Very convenient, my kids ages 16 and 18 loved Hollywood Boulevard, so much to see and do..
The staff was extremely courteous and very helpful, always obliging and extending their services and hospitality. The hotel is conveniently located to everything and the breakfast chefs were wonderful each morning of our stay. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and suggest it to my friends if they visit the LA area.... I can't wait to come back when I have a vacation again... we loved it there... and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.. My mom and two kids stayed for a week.

In the hood! The heart of LA!

Posted 16-Aug-2014
Pros: Ability to get to where we wanted in a short period of time. Friendly staff, decent breakfast. Full review on Yelp.com; part 1 and 2.
Cons: replace cracked tiles in tub, fix drop ceiling in lobby, ventilation issue in building. Building safe but need security improvement, lot access.
Location: We rented a car to get around and parked in their lot which is where the fountain is, we felt this was safest for us. See full review on Yelp.com
Low income area minutes from Hollywood attractions; Hollywood sign, Hollywood Blvd, Universal, Warner Bros, Walk of Fame, etc. 45 minutes from Disneyland and California Adventures
