Older hotel needs a little help in area

Posted 16-Sep-2014
We found the location of the hotel to be great. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean, but areas of the hotel need updating. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the tub/showers need updating deperately, but the sinks and countertops have been replaced which was nice. Based on the pictures, you would think you are staying at a Spa style resort but the hotel does not match that expectation.

Convenient location and an excellent 3*

Posted 15-Sep-2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: The hotel needs a little updating.
Location: The metro Santa Monica/Vermont brings you to the walk of fame within four stops.
As long as you don't go to this hotel expecting the Radisson (or similar), you will be extremely pleased. The location is excellent - if travelling by metro, take the station to Santa Monica/Vermont, and walk up a block to the hotel, if driving, parking is $20 per night (but you can go in and out as much as you please - given the cost of parking around LA, eg. at Universal, you can justleave the car and take the metro to the main hotspots). The rooms and decor are dated, but everything is clean, comfortable and functional. Check in is at 3, check out at 11. The staff are extremely helpful, and the complimentary breakfast is excellent (omelette and waffles freshly cooked to order, as well as cold meats, cheeses, fruit and breads (including croissants and muffins)). There is even sugar free maple syrup! The air conditioning is a little noisy, and some of the balconies are linked which means that if someone is having a chat outside - the noise easily carries as they move in front of your doors! The bar is also a little on the "dark" side - more a "pub" bar rather than what you might imagine a hotel bar to be. If you take a short walk back down towards the metro, there is a great healthy-eating outlet, alongside frozen yoghurt, Pizza Hut, Staples and a pharmacy (which also does food). Walk up towards Hollywood are the "diner/restaurant" type places. The pool is excellent - the area is a sun trap, and towels are brought. The fitness centre is also ok, We would return.

Rip off hotel

Pros: breakfast
They want as much money from you as they can get. One bed to sleep four?

Great hotel. Close to every place I wanted to go.

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Pros: Fancy little hotel. Very clean.
Cons: Better rental cars.
Location: The wax museum. Hollywood. The beach and LAX. Universal Studios.
Clean friendly place. Staff was great. In the heat of Hollywood and the beach. They had a pool and sauna gym and laundry. The price was a little in the high end for a very small room. They only had one computer in the lobby, though. My sister rented a car which was a very old car with expired plates and the charges was extremely pricey compared to regular rental places.

Noises hotel

Posted 11-Sep-2014
Pros: Loved the location. Not to bad a place
Cons: Needed some TLC
Location: I was there for surgery so no time for pleasure
We chose to stay here because of its location. There were people in the halls most of the night and they weren't quite. Also the air conditioning in this room was very noises and didn't run very long but came on a lot.

Nice hotel and staff, terrible area.

Posted 04-Sep-2014
The hotel, it's facilities, parking, cleanliness, staff, breakfast, and pool are all really great. The area is terrible, very poor and run down. Like most of LA, threre is a homeless problem in the area. It's a real shame because there is nothing they can do about it.

Great value hotel

Posted 30-Aug-2014
Pros: Friendliness, location and breakfast!!
Location: M inutes away from metro stations with easy access to all major destinations including Universal Studios and Chinese Theatre.
We stayed in the Hollywood Hotel for 1 week and loved it. The staff were friendly and made us welcome. The room was basic but very clean, comfortable and more than adequate. The location felt safe and was just minutes from a metro station with access to all destinations. There was a lovely quiet pool area which again was clean and very relaxing. The best thing about this hotel was definitely the breakfast. Omelettes with every choice of filling you could wish for cooked to order, fresh cooked waffles in addition to a full self serve continental breakfast. We loved this hotel and hope to return in the future.
