“House of cards”
I found this hotel through Trip Advisor and decided to stay because I have a preference for smaller hotels and it was convenient to where I needed to go. The hotel at first glance seemed nice, but I had a bad feeling from the first moment when I had to pull open the heavy doors of the entrance unassisted and drag my suitcase through. There were many issues, but here are some of the top ones: -- there was supposed to be Internet connectivity in the rooms, but the WiFi signal was extremely weak and unusable unless sitting in the lobby. (Completely unacceptable on a business trip.) -- terrible service. staff seemed ill at ease with the idea of helping guests and there were also occasional language issues with staff who weren't native English speakers -- they served my breakfast order right away, but it took almost 15 minutes after that to get coffee and a glass of water. -- if you were still in your room when they came around for turn down service, they don't come back. -- computer in business center was so old and slow that it took ten minutes to boot up. All in all, the experience felt like a third class establishment wrapped up in a first class facade.
“Hotel is lovely but the staff need to work on their attitude”
We enjoy the location of the hotel because in a taxi you are 5 mins from Farringdon, Shoreditch and Spitalfield. I'm not sure how a tourist would fare but it is a good location if you know London or have done your research. The hotel and rooms are perfectly fine but the staff need to improve their approach. There was a wedding on at the hotel so the hotel bar was closed to accommodate it. Check-in staff said we could sit in the foyer (which is beautiful) and have a drink there. Fine by us. But as it turns out there was no service, we had to make our own drinks at the honesty bar. Oh no, hang on, the management haven't opened the honesty bar actually but someone will do it in 10mins so can you sit here and wait? Err OK. Finally start to make ourselves drinks and the staff come over and start stocktaking virtually sidelining us. Shouldn't this have been done earlier? In anticipation? We are the guests and you are meant to work around us, not vice versa. We gave up and went back to our room to use the mini bar but the fridge and contents were warm. The initial check-in welcome was also lukewarm and there was no one to help us find a taxi even though public protests were occurring at St Paul's and the street the hotel was in was blocked off and guests obviously needed assistance. It's an isolated spot at the best of times. We have just come back from the US and the level of service in hotels there is in stark contrast to what you receive in the UK.
“favourite city hotel”
nice staff, great location, lovely rooms. Room service menu is a little limited.
“Tiny Room / Difficult to Access”
The hotel was in good location but car access to hotel is pathetic - will receive parking ticket because there is no place to park and register. The room for 2 people was tiny and difficult to move around in which caused great frustration. Poor ironing area and tea making, could not in all honesty recommend the hotel.
“Great location, attentive staff”
Really nice hotel, comfortable, attentive service. Only thing that could improve is the room service, the menu is really basic.
“Great for stays in the City”
I love staying here - rooms are excellent and the location is great for stays in the City.
“Best location for the City”
Can highly recommend, just needs better WiFi capability to be ideal
“Very Comfortable bed”
It was very comfortable hotel especially its bed. This hotel is very close to subway/metro station (less than 5 minutes) walk. Don't make our mistakes and pay 100 pounds from airport to hotel (the day we reached there it was the day that Pop came to london and therefore goo excuse for taxi driver to take un ususal path and charge us a lot). Hotel's employee were very freindly and helpful.
“Great hotel.”
This place is fantastic value for money. We have stayed in many London hotels far more expensive and have had half of the room and none of the service. Great location although quiet on weekends. Perfect for a romantic getaway or business stay.
“Wonderful hotel for business travel”
This was my second visit and it was great. This is a small, boutique hotel near the business center in London. Great location for business traveler. The hotel is beautiul and the room (and bed) very comfortable. The staff is attentive and professional. Will stay there again and again if I need to go to London.
