“Could do better”

We stayed at the NH Pontevecchio for 4 nights in April 2011. Good points: Hotel staff were generally friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Location was quite good - Lecco is small anyway and most places were within walking distance of the hotel. Negatives: Breakfast was samey - while there were a few options (eggs, bacon, sausages, different types of bread, yoghurt, fruit), they never changed and it became a bit tedious after a couple of days. No free wi-fi unless you came down and used your laptop in the lobby. You had to get tokens from the staff first and these allowed you 30mins free internet use each time. The hotel advertises that it has a solarium. Well, this is rather misleading, as the "solarium" is nothing more than a lonely and rather sad looking roof top space, with dried up plants and one dirty plastic chair. It felt like the kind of place where a dead body could lie undiscovered for weeks and we got out of there quite sharpish. The hotel could also do with some TLC to the outside space, which again featured lots of concrete and dead plants, and just a general overhaul of the bathroom, which looked really dated.
