"This hotel you are really just paying for the location. Location is fantastic. Otherwise it left a lot to be desired; beds were so hard all members of our party of seven were complaining of pain by the second night; the WiFi would go down every other day for what seemed like a full day; the TV system listed options like casting and the ability to sign in to streaming services, neither of which worked despite investing an hour over multiple days trying to get something out of it; bar is quite expensive and whole they do make some nice drinks it is incredibly slow. Overall I don't know that I can recommend this place; I would try something else nearby."

"Rooms are clean, modern, spacious and comfortable. The self-serve check in-out misses out on a personal welcome touch. Location is outstanding and is just a block away from the four covered shopping arcades such as the Teramachi. Also central to many temples, shrines, Imperial Palace etc. Subway is also a block away. There are so many restaurants and bars just outside it is a hopping area for night life."

Kyoto Brighton Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Kyoto these days is packed with tourists. The Brighton is just far enough from the center of town to be quiet and restful while still being convenient. The amenities are far superior to those of similarly priced hotels. My room was large, sparkling clean and looked out at a lovely garden. I only experienced the buffet-style Western breakfast - a large variety of items, all freshly made and delicious. Coffee, too, was very good. And every member of the staff was kind and helpful. I strongly hope these qualities are retained after the upcoming renovation."

"This hotel was our favorite by far across Japan. Extremely charming, clean, and relaxing. Has everything you need and the staff was always available for us. The bath house was incredible and the hotel provided a few tattoo covers for myself. The location you cant beat either. We will be coming back."
