Amazing Stay!
Amazing meals. Dinner was outstanding, and reasonably priced! Breakfast buffet was excellent with so many choices. Will surely return to the BOSTON Plaza Hotel!

Very convenient to the train station. The decor is really interesting, especially the hallway in the South Wing. The breakfast buffet is good quality too.

Lovely old stately building. It takes me back to another era. Charming and well maintained. The staff are very helpful and extremely courteous.

Nicely fancy and cosy!
Everything was great, the breakfast buffé is recommended with it's varied selection of food, lots of different Japanese cuisine available, with an excellent, cosy morning mood together with it.

Convenient and Comfortable
The Boston Hotel is literally steps just outside the JR Kusatsu train station. If traveling by train, the convenience really can't be beat. The room was very clean and well maintained, though small as with many Japanese rooms. Only 2 people can fit so we had 2 rooms for a family of 4 and it worked great. There were slippers and a sleeping gown to freely use and the selection of toiletries was surprisingly robust. The service was exceptional as we had no trouble speaking with the lobby staff and even the cleaning crew were all smiling and so helpful. There is a Lawson's convenience store attached to the hotel so late night munchies, toiletries, or a run to the ATM are without worry. The bottom floor has a mid-size restaurant. In the morning it offers a full buffet breakfast with a huge array of foods like scrambled eggs and sausages, misi soup and fish, steamed vegetables, cereals and breads. I highly recommend the breakfast for it's selection and quality, especially if it is included. This is a wonderful hotel just a 20 minute train ride from Kyoto station that won't be nearly as crowded, provides excellent service, and is a great jumping point for many of your adventures in Japan. The trains are normally not as packed as other lines around Kyoto.

Great location, with spacious, comfortable rooms!
Very conveniently located across from the Train Station, this hotel is a great choice when visiting Kusatsu! Rooms are comfortable, clean, with an excellent shower. Breakfasts are varied and tasty. All the staff are pleasant and helpful. I heartily recommend Hotel Boston Place Kusatsu!

Good value 20 minutes from Kyoto station
I've stayed here several times and it's definitely Japanese but very comfortable for a westerner. The rooms are big by Asian standards and the basics, hot water and drains, are good. The breakfast buffet is nice with Japanese and Western choices, so don't hesitate to choose a rate including breakfast. The hotel is 2-minutes walk from Kusatsu station, and Kusatu is 20 minutes from Kyoto station, and has some direct trains to Kansai airport.

Beautiful Hotel
Gorgeous hotel with very friendly staff. Extremely close to JR line which is a huge plus. The nearby local mall was really nice as well. Everything was pretty far though. Not much in walking distance. Still would give this place a 4.5/5.

The Hotel staff was friendly the food was great and location was very close to the station, however I wish they would have some air circulation my eyes were itching the whole time and it felt dusty, the beds were comfortable but not the best place to be. I was glad to be there for only 2 days. I can't really recommend this though.

Did not realise when i booked this hotel it is not in kyoto but nearby town kusatsu it is quite out of the way and makes it hard to go out in kyoto at night.

The hotel was right next to Kusatsu station, very clean and spacious. Having a convenience on the ground floor was a great plus too. We had a very good massage experience at Asian Kuu which is a walking distance and I'll highly recommend to have a visit there if you are staying at this hotel:)

Classy, classical hotel.
This hotel had the most room of the 4 hotels that I stayed at in Japan. It also seemed to be the most classy, and classically inspired. For example, this is the only hotel that I've stayed at in more than 15 years where the keys are still physical keys. I had trouble with the WiFi, so I plugged in my router. It had trouble too, so I suspect that they were scrambling it. The hotel WiFi eventually worked. I showed up for the free breakfast buffet late and without my ticket. They made exceptions for me. It's too bad I didn't spend any time at the hotel, because I was too busy seeing the uncanny majesty of Kyouto. The room was cheap, too, perhaps because I booked same-day.

I miss booked my hotel, so I only stayed the one night. But they took my bag early so I could venture around Kyoto for the day. Hotel very nice, little too fancy for me. Thought location was out of way, but only 20min by JR train to Kyoto station. Would stay again.

Nice and clean hotel but no true air conditioning
The hotel is right next to the Kusatsu JR station. Hotel staff were generally helpful and a few of them could speak English. There were many quality shops and restaurants near to the hotel. However, it takes 22 minutes on the train and costs about 510 yen to go to Kyoto. Otsu and Omihachiman, which are just a few stops away from Kusatsu, are well worth at least one day visit. One major problem we encountered while staying at the hotel was air-conditioning. We had to open the window to cool down the room temperature and put up with the street noise while sleeping, as the hotel only provided heating when weather started to turn cold.

This is the nicest hotel room I've stayed in at this price point. The bathroom and deep soak tub were all glassed in with curtains for privacy. There were English options on the tv. The breakfast was very good and there is a 24/7 convenient store for late night snacks. Most importantly, the bed was excellent!

Great hotel adjacent to subway station.
Remodeled and beautifully done in Boston style. Spacious for Japan, great location in a cute suberbe, 20 minutes by subway from Kyoto. Good breakfast and great value for what you get. Free snacks and water are provided in the room. It was a pleasure staying there.
