My stay was excellent. The staff was very polite and considerate and went above and beyond. The restaurants were really top notch and the service there was excellent. Was also in very close proximity to Tarumi station with lots of shopping and restaurant choices and even closer to Maiko stations, which is a little smaller but with it's own perks! I would highly recommend this hotel.

After staying down the hill in Kobe for a week, Arima was a magical retreat. The hotel has multiple private bathing rooms, each with two tubs, different waters in each tub, and traditional onsen squat showers.
The rooms were reasonably sized with somewhat hard but comfortable beds. A very Japanese experience.

The Japanese style room is more than I expected, breathtaking view, very clean and comfortable.
The hotel has bus that pick up guest front he train station every 15 min, so please don’t take taxi like I did.
Breakfast buffet is more like Japanese style but everything taste great.
The front desk only understands basic English.
You have to pay extra to get in the hotel’s hot spring, it’s not included in the room.
They also provide in room message which is great.
If you want in room dinner you need to reserve early, can’t order on the day you arrive. But the hotel also has many good restaurants.
Overall very satisfied.

The Kobe Crown Palais is an excellent hotel easily accessible using the trains from the airport. This is particularly helpful if arriving in the evening as many find it easier to navigate in the day. Take the Portliner to Sannomiya, then the JR line 2 stops to Kcbe station and the hotel is a short walk from the station using an underpass. You will be able to see the hotel (about 17 floors) from the Kobe station platforms. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff is helpful and courteous. The one negative was the breakfast. The food was good but when arriving for breakfast at about 0800, traveling alone, was informed people by themselves could not have a table but had to sit in an area around the bar where there were a series of chairs, in sets of four, which surrounded a small square table type device. This was uncomfortable – while there were enough seats so that people were not cramped together, the arrangement was not good for eating a meal given the angle of the seats to the table. The hotel needs to fix this problem – likely by setting up more two person tables which can easily be used by single travelers. Overall, though, an excellent hotel I recommend.

Arrived to find an innocent looking and rather small
Little lobby off the street....until we were told the lobby is actually on the 17th floor.
Once you step off the elevator, you will be greeted by a wall of glass overlooking Kobe Harbour.
And our stay was just as spectacular all the way including the food.
Only small complaint was the spotty wifi..... But we didn't care. The rooms were
Simply perfect and the staff was attentive.
I'd put this hotel in a class by itself. Not too small of a boutique hotel but not
The too big to be unfriendly and cold.
Great place. 5-stars

Our only regret was that we didn't spend more time at the Hotel Piena. It is in a very good location and is really a nice little boutique type hotel. It is very convenient for sightseeing and shopping. Sannomiya Station and surrounds has a lot of shopping opportunities. We were there for one night to meet with a customer who lives in Kobe. He told us that the hotel was well situated for tourists and we agree. The Hotel Piena is a cozy place that makes you feel welcome. The room was adequate. Not spacious, but they do have other options for larger rooms. We thought we got good value for money.

This is a superb hotel. The facilities are excellent and the location -- essentially protruding into Osaka Bay is superb. Most or all rooms have a balcony which one can sit outside in and enjoy the calm of the water along with a superb view. Kobe is a long and narrow city with mountains very close to the shore -- thus, the view include an excellent skyline and the mountains -- in addition to the water. One thing to be cautious about -- the hotel offers a very convenient shuttle bus to and from the downtown transportation hub -- Sannomiya Station. The shuttle bus is shared with the Hotel Okura (a nearby and likewise superb hotel). It leaves from Gate 8 (as of Nov 2014) but there is another bus for the Portopia Hotel which also leaves from Gate 8 and you must go up to the front to see where the two lines start. When I first arrived I waited in the very long line for the Portopia Bus only to find out, after one bus had already left full and I reached the front of the line, that the line I was in was for the Portopia Hotel. One thing the Meriken Park Hotel (and the Hotel Okura) could do would be to have better markings/instructions for their buses so other guests don't needlessly wait in the wrong line.
