Stay at Cottons Hotel Wed 9th July 2014

Posted 14-Jul-2014
Pros: The spa, see comments above
Cons: Needs more waiting staff in restaurant in evenings and at breakfast times. Décor of room is tired and in need of up-dating
Location: Knutsford is a pleasant town with lots to see and do.
Staff at Check in and bar were friendly and attentive. Some waiting staff in bar / restaurant were dilatory and off-hand. I waited for over 30 minutes after receiving a menu and finally went to the bar to order food and was then tersely advised by a waitress that she would come across and take my order soon, just wait. I'd waited long enough and fortunately the barman took pity and noted my order. The spa was pleasant and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, majored on traditional full English cooked, but staff were very busy and too thinly stretched to cope with the number of customers. Décor of room was rather tired, though would of been of high quality when new, I'd guess about 20 years ago. The hotel did not offer good value for money. I would expect better at the room rates charged. For this reason I'd not recommend this as a location to stay.

Stayed overnight for a family wedding

Posted 13-Jul-2014
Pros: Friendly staff Well appointed room
Cons: Decor of rooms ok but a bit drab Needs updating
Location: Just out of town and a bit too far to walk Plenty of things to do a short drive away Manchester shopping Walking in Derbyshire
Staff very helpful when I needed to change rooms for my mother as the room allocated was too far to walk for her. Not much of a comfortable lounge area to sit Breakfast good Did not have time to use the spa facilities which looked very good

COTTONS HOTEL

Posted 29-May-2014
Pros: Location & breakfast
Cons: Rooms are very basic - would benefit from updating and repainting my bathroom door was damaged.
Was disappointed with this hotel, there was wedding reception on the first evening which resulted in children running up and down the corridors screaming. Throughout the night and very early morning there was a piercing sound whenever anyone used the water/WC in neighbouring rooms. When I told the reception about this they said no-one else hsd mentioned it but several of my friends in other rooms had reported the same issue to them?

More or less faultless

Posted 23-Feb-2014
Pros: The staff, the food, the ambience
Cons: One fire door a little loud on closing, a slight groaning from a neighbours bathroom taps
Location: Tatton park knutsford , and a great deli in town serving the best bacon butties
Great staff, nice room, very comfortable bed, food cooked to perfection- new taster menu with matching wines was a delight - and reasonable prices in the bar. Second time here and we will come again.

Nice hotel with in-door pool, SPA and restaurant

Posted 11-Jan-2014
I stayed in a very nice room, the 310, with confortable beds, a livingroom with sofa and armchair, a desk where I could work with my computer, a table with facilities to make a very good coffee and tea, lots of space, wardrobe and a nice bathroom. I didn't have breakfast (that was not included in the price on the internet) but I had dinner twice in the restaurant of the hotel, very good dishes, I particularly enjoyed calamari, good choice of wines that can be bought at single glasses. Tips: at the check-out verify the extra, i.e. the breakfast: I was charged for the breakfast, although I never had breakfast there.

Bedrooms need updating

Posted 06-Jan-2014
The reception/bar area of the hotel is nice and clean/modern however the room in which we stayed was tired and dated and in need of some improvements. Although we had a kettle there were no tea or coffee sachets to make a drink.

Expect quality, got a surprise

Posted 11-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
So, arriving at reception after booking through this site, almost had my room card thrown at me as I was dismissed off to my room. On arrival at the room, light switches were not near the door but a good four foot into the room. It was cold and damp, I put it down to the conditions outside. Went about unpacking my computer and tablet, tablet I use as an alarm clock. Looking at my bedside table with light and provided alarm thought great plug sockets. Oh no, all the electrical devices were hard wired in, no plugs near the bedside table. Off my laptop and table went to the other side of the room, not to be used as I needed to charge them. Pulled back the covers on my small single bed to reveal black marks and a foot long stain. I was glad to leave the next morning, not a hotel I would book ever again.

I give it 3 stars and I'm being generous.

This hotel does not worth 4 stars. It is a 3 stars hotel , no more! Basic rooms. No network in the rooms. The staff are full of themselves . They act like they are the guests and we are the staff. Some of them they cut short to your request with this killer answer " I'm afraid that's all we can do, sorry". I go to the area for business and I must admit that I stay there only if I don't have any other choice. There is no common comparison with the Mere golf hotel, which is extraordinary good and the staff well trained and helpfull. The problem is they are in the same range of prices. What a joke!

Brilliant location and excellent facilities

Posted 19-Nov-2013
Cons: The meals could be a bit more varied and possibly less expensive.
Location: Brilliant location for shops, restaurants and bars etc.
We only stayed for one night for my boyfriend's 40th birthday but the hotel was excellent and very close to all local amenities.

Comfy beds and good staff

Posted 01-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
I personally thought the hotel was pretty good, I have stayed more than once and never had an issue. I did feel that some areas of the hotel were beginning to look a little tired. One gripe was that there was a room service tray in the corridor near our room when we checked in, and it was still there when we checked out the following day. However the staff were really friendly and helpful and I thought the bed was very comfy. I would stay there again.
