We travelled across southern Ireland. And this was by far the nicest room that we got. We were on a budget our entire trip including when we booked our room. This was somehow the cheapest hotel in Killarney! the room was big, it had a nice decor and a beautiful bathroom. We did not take advantage of it but if you stay there you can use the pool facilities at their sister hotel! This hotel left a very good impression on us!
The Lake Hotel is one of the very best in Killarney. Onsite restaurant/pub, friendly and helpful staff, historic and old fashioned, clean, well maintenanced, and the view cannot be beat. Perfect location on the fringe of the main town center and within the Killarney National Park. Cheap cab rides to town. Excellent food and drinks for both breakfast and dinner. Evening entertainment in the bar lounge was very nice. Fun ruins to visit just outside of the restaurant. Swans in the lake, deer in the forest, views of the lake and mountains. Best hotel we stayed in while in Ireland. NOTE: We were not travelling with kiddos, but we did notice a sign placed outside the restaurant saying they only cater to children for a 45 min window from somewhere around 6-7pm.
"Just what you're looking for in a small Irish town"
Stayed here 3 nights, right in the middle of everything. If you want a quaint b&b style hotel, this is perfect. Rooms are nice size and clean, upgraded bathrooms. In house breakfast and great attached pub. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
First impressing, which is the driveway coming into the hotel, is superb! The hotel itself looks beautiful lit up during the evening, and the staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are quite large and very comfortable. Free wifi around the hotel as well. Take a walk around the hotel grounds during the morning; it's beautiful. A lot of things to do during your stay. Would have loved to stay longer to join the Ring of Kerry tour, instead of simply exploring it myself. Child friendly and there are places for the pets too! Loved waking up and seeing the horses roam the fields. Recommend, and hope to come visit again!
Situated at the foot of MacGillycuddy's Reeks, Killarney National Park is home to the Lakes of Killarney, the Victorian-style Muckross House & Gardens, and the 15th-century Ross Castle. Since cars are not allowed visitors can hike, cycle, or hire a horse-and-buggy to explore the 26,000-acre park. Summerfest draws crowds to town for a month of music, theater, and entertainment in June and July.
