I enjoyed my stay at the hotel - the location being close to the beach and the trolley stop was ideal. The facilities, including the pool were good. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was sumptuous. Overall, it was great experience.
Everything was wonderful, especially the staff, which was totally top shelf. Kim, Jon, Ed, Cindy, Doug, Michael, Daniel, Carrie, and a half dozen names I can't remember were all helpful, fun, and great to be around. I had a wonderful time, and I'll be back next December.
Small hotel, but close to Duval. I do not like that I book a room for 3 persons and they just give us a few towels, the check in was very slow because the system was running very slow. But in general if you are looking for a place just to sleep this is a perfect place.
We chose Key West to take a short anniversary getaway from 15-20 November and chose the Santa Maria Suites because of the close proximity to Duval St. but in the quieter area of town. The poolside free smoothies every day and the nightly complimentary muffins and Dove Bars were excellent touches to make you feel welcome. Free happy hour wine and snacks at the poolside were above and beyond what most places offer and we will stay again whenever we go back.

Key West is extremely expensive to visit. The room I rented ("Coral Cove") turned out to be an efficiency condo, with frig, sink in kitchen area, outdoor awesome gas grill, full cutlery, plates, etc . - basically it was a small apartment for less that an average Key West hotel room price. I was at a small conference, and talking to others who stayed at guesthouses and big name hotels, my room was at least as large as theirs, and larger in some cases. It was immaculately clean, and beautifully painted and appointed. There was free parking, on the street, which is a huge plus in Key West. The neighborhood is called Bahama Town, where historically the Bahamian folks lived - it still has this flavor but is cool, and authentic Key West. My condo was only three blocks from Duval, and two blocks from Whitehead (where the Hemingway house is). Key West Vacation rentals has rooms and condos scattered throughout the city, not just in this area. My only complaint is that the mattress on the bed was not comfortable. I plan to request this room specifically and return to Key Wes for a few days to hang out and enjoy the art galleries some more.
