Ixiás Beach

This is our 3rd stay at Rodos Palace. We have always stayed in a garden suite or a bungalow rather than the main hotel block. This year we stayed in a bungalow again. They are spacious and the grounds around the bungalows are well maintained. They are also very quiet. However, we have noticed that the bungalows have started to look 'tired' and could definitely benefit from a refurbishment. Although the main hotel pool is lovely, you cannot get a bed at the pool if you aren't up extremely early. This is despite a sign at the pool asking guests not to leave towels/belongings on beds prior to 10am and then returning to their rooms. The sign says belongings will be removed if this happens. Everyone ignores those signs and the hotel does not take any action. This is disappointing when you are looking for a sunbed and the vast majority are unoccupied at 10 with just a bottle of suncream or towel on them!

Lovely new apartments, only opened in 2013. Only 14 apartments in total, so a lovely quiet setting. Short 5 minute walk to the local village, with a supermarket, bakers and 3 or 4 restaurants. The beach is shingle, but the sea is the clearest and cleanest I've ever seen. We were well looked after in the apartments, and were provided with a welcome pack on arrival, extra pillows when we asked, and a later check out time on our final day. A car is useful to get around, although there is a local bus service which could be used, the bus stop is in the village and seems to run fairly regularly. The pool was clean and of a good size, and due to the small number of apartments, it was never a problem to get sun beds around the pool.

What a great hotel, lovely staff all the way, super good pools and great food!
