“Lovely”
A very cute and comfortable hotel that provides a lovely buffet breakfast in the morning, we were made to feel so 'at-home' by the hotel staff we referred to it as 'home' whilst there. The view from the Poem Hotel's roof-top is stunning, the sea, the mosques and the city all around you! The AC was a must-have and turned the room in to a haven after a day of sight-seeing, the great thing about the location is the number of companies nearby that can arrange tours to various destinations. The only suggestion I would make to the hotel is the shower room in the 'For you' room needs a better curtain to prevent water from spilling outside the shower area.
“Just quality...”
We had an excellent stay. The room was perfect with an impressive view of the river Bosphorus. Very good breakfast. The staff was absolutely friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to stay there. I would improve the signposting because it was a little bit difficult to find.
“Impressed & would go back”
Poem Hotel is in an excellent location within 10 minutes walk to Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque & Sultanahment tram stop. There's a delightful terrace with view of the Bosphorus to have breakfast. All rooms are named after poems. The 'War Lovers' room was pleasant with good views.
“Perfect Base for Sightseeing”
Hotel Poem is on a side street just off Akbiyik Street, which is lined with restaurants, travel agents and useful mini-markets. It's a few minutes walk from Sultan Ahmet and the Blue Mosgue. There's a view of the Bosphoros from the roof terrace, and you can glimpse the sea walls. Two old-style wooden houses joined by a pavilion which houses the breakfast bar, the hotel is unpretentious, clean, well-looked after and adequately comfortable. Staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful beyond the call of duty. It couldn't be more convenient as a base for visiting the Old City.
“Friendly, good character and top location”
The hotel staff is very friendly, welcoming and full of good advice. Definitely make you feel at ease and really helpful in all respect. The location is ideal for sightseeing. The poems add to the character.
“Enjoyable stay”
We arrived slightly early for check in but were made to feel welcome straight away. The manager seemed pleased to see us and upgraded our room for no extra cost. He was polite about our awful attempts at turkish and even explained how to pronounce Thank you. Our room on the top floor was lovely. Spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the facilities adequate. The location was ideal, on a side street so fairly quiet, and within walking distance to all the major sights. We didn't use any public transport at all during our stay. There was free wifi throughout the hotel so we could check out places to go on the internet. and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
“Great base”
Handily located in Sultanahmet, but slightly away from the hustle & bustle with nice views down to the Bosphorus. Within very easy walking distance to the historical sites, grand + spice bazaars and the ferries which travel to the Princes Islands and up the Bosphorus. Hotel itself was great - good value for money, not overly large rooms but big enough, clean, good breakfast buffet, nice outdoor terraced areas where you can eat breakfast or just relax in the sun. A great place to base yourself and explore Istanbul from.
“Really friendly hotel!”
The Poem is a great little hotel, and good value for a major city. Our room was extremely tiny, though - cats could not be swung in it, and in fact I had real trouble getting in and out of the shower because the bathroom was so small it was impossible to open the shower door far enough to avoid having to climb over the toilet! We had to take it in turns to get dressed. The breakfast was an excellent buffet, all you can eat and typically Turkish: we ate on the terrace outside, looking down into the back garden of a slum. Nominally there are views of the Bosphorous, but in summer I would imagine the trees would be too leafy for anyone to see much. Apart fom occasional noise from the railway, the hotel is very quiet and peaceful - the only reason we had the train noise was because we had to keep the windows open so we could breathe. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and the free Internet access was useful: being right near the major sights was useful, but the hotel is tucked away so (a) it was quiet and (b) it was hard to find. Overall, we recommend the Poem.
“Very impressive small hotel near the Blue Mosque”
Lovely hotel - great location in a quiet street but lots of good restaurants and bars nearby for supper. Friendly and helpful staff, clean room with TV, air conditioning, minibar, hair dryer etc. Good breakfast in the morning. Rooms a little small but not a problem for us. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly stay there again myslef.
“Ideally situated”
The hotel is ideally situated to walk to all major sites. The rooms are small, but we were prepared for this by other reviews.Everywhere was spotless and we had everything we needed in a small space. The staff were helpful and recommended places to eat, although there is a good choice locally. Fish is excellent. A great holiday.
