“Very good hotel”
This is a fairly small nice hotel in a very good location close to the Blue Mosque and within easy walking distance of Haghia Sophia, the palace, Bazaar etc. Nice roof bar with view over the Sea of Marmara and of the Blue Mosque. I hope to visit it again.
“lovely hotel”
The hotel was very clean and comfortable with great staff who gave good tips and information whenever you needed it. Excellent location just around the corner from the Blue Mosque and great rooftop views at a yummy breakfast. Fabulous shower! Would definitly recommended for a city break.
“Really good hotel”
The Hotel Erguvan was a gem. The location was perfect, very close to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, Topkapi Palace and a tram stop. It was immaculately clean and the staff could not have been more helpful. The breakfasts were excellent, other meals basic but tasty and served on the roof terrace with a lovely view of the Blue Mosque. we would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers. The best restaurant we found was a small establishment very close to the hotel. Turn right out of the hotel, take the first turning right, then first left and it is next door to the lighting shop on the corner. Unfortunately we can't remember its name but it is excellent, lovely propietor and very good value.
“Will stay here agin - perfect choice for sights, comfort and cost”
I stayed here with my Mum and sister for 4 nights. Everything was smooth from start to finish. The Hotel had arranged our pick up from the airport which was great as we were at the hotel within 30 minutes. We had a triple room (no. 27). very clean, nice bathroom etc. Room was facing inwards to the courtyard so never heard street noise. Room wasnt huge but we were hardly in our rooms. Location was perfect! 3 mins walking to Blue Mosque. No more than 10 mins walking to many main sites such as the Haghia Sophia, the Basilica Cistern and the tram stop etc. Convenience store across the road where you can stock up on water. The tram services are so great that moving around is no problem, we never needed a taxi. Hotel: Very clean and quaint and met all our needs. Wifi is available as is a computer in the lobby. The terrace has wonderful views of the sea and the blue mosque. The sunset views can be seen. The breakfast was good, assortment of cakes, breads, fruit, juices and eggs etc. We had dinner on the terrace which was great and only cost us 10 euros each! The reception staff are wonderful and very helpful with tips and suggestions etc, they even gave us a guide book. We booked a great day trip through reception (a boat cruise on the Bosphorus). The girl on reception was always smiling and willing to answer questions. Staff speak great English!
“Very good”
We really enjoyed staying here. The location is fantastic and is in easy distance of all the sights in Sultanahmet so we didn't even use a taxi once.(The taxis don't even know where the hotel is anyway but it isn't complicated at all to get to.)The hotel is clean and comfy. A negative point is that all the floors are laminated which means you can hear quite a lot going on in other people's rooms. This was annoying so we asked to be moved which was no problem. But really the hotel is staffed with lovely people.Breakfast was fine. There is a mosque next door so yes you do get woken up at the crack of dawn with a quite mournful call to prayer but we liked it as it reminded us we were somewhere different in Europe.
“Great Family Run Hotel”
If you want Holiday Inn style rooms, food at Holiday Inn prices don't stay here. If you want a small family run hotel, with great service, wonderful local knowledge, good "free" breakfast, reasonable prices, English speaking manager/staff, small but clean rooms then the Erguvan is perfect for you. 200 yds from the Blue Mosque, and very close to other tourist sites. Plenty of local restaurants (i.e. not city centre "tourist" locations & prices) within a few streets. A perfect hotel in a quiet backwater.
“Perfect location......”
..for all the major sights/restaurants and the Bospherous. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful providing maps and info when asked. The rooms are on the small side but adequate for a short stay, with double-glazing and self-controlled A/C-heating.The breakfasts very good(typically Turkish) and the views from the terrace excellent.
“Awesome location, very helpful staff”
The location couldn't be better. Walking distance to most of the places. Staff speaks English and is very helpful. Very good connectivity to the aiport as well. You can take the metro and tram to reach the hotel in 45 mins from Ataturk at a cost of just 2.8 Turkish Lira. Absolutely loved it...
“Recommended, comfortable hotel”
- Good room size and facilities. - Very helpful and courteous staff - Only 5minute (uphill) walk to the Blue Mosque - Beautiful roof-terrace with view over Sultanahmet, including the Blue Mosque which is exceptional at night. - Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.
“Excellent Location for sightseeing. Recommended.”
Hotel Erguvan is in a brilliant location for exploring Istanbul by foot. It is situated in the old historic part of Istanbul, just 5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque. It is a modest hotel, dont expect 5 star luxury but the staff are very friendly and you couldnt get a better location for sightseeing. It was in a clean and tidy condition. The breakfast, served in the roof top restaurant was buffet style which was adequate and fitting to the type of hotel it is. I couldnt comment on the evening meal as we ate out in the main town. The bar/restaurant was quiet in the evening but then it was early March when we stayed at the hotel. All the main tourist sights are within walking distance, apart from the Grand Bazaar. We caught a tram to the Bazaar, it took 5 minutes and the tram system is very easy to use with a set price to most locations. Dont miss the Bazaar it is great, but huge and very easy to get lost and keep walking round in circles! Taxi from the airport, make sure you print out a map and address for the hotel before you set off on your trip. Taxi drivers based at the airport dont seem to have much knowledge of some parts of the city, our driver had to stop and ask for directions, so make sure you have a map of where you are staying! Overall I would recommend this hotel based on its location and price.
