“No bowl of cherries, more pits”
The room was very small, coffee in lobby none in room, noisy in hall and downstairs, not impressed at all.
“OK, but could be better”
Couldn't adjust air in room, even though I set thermostat for 75, the cold air kept blowing down on the bed. Bed was very comfortable. Charged $3 for a cup of coffee in the lobby. No waste basket in bathroom, phone did not work by bedside, had to use phone on desk. Asked for 3:15 am wake up call, it did not come until 3:30.
“Comfortable rooms”
The room quality is excellent, great pillows (down I think) and beautiful bathroom with close up makeup mirror. There is both a large luggage rack and a sofa at the end of the bed, so it's very convenient for packing and unpacking. The one thing I would improve is to have access to an ice machine (they'll bring it from room service though) and free coffee (it's $ 3 in the lobby). The room service cheeseburger is great and arrives quickly.
“Terrible Front Desk and Plumbing”
The area around the hotel is very Skid Row, although close to the Baseball field, there aren't many decent places to visit within walking distance and the homeless population can be overwhelming. The plumbing in the room was atrocious. The maintenance man said it was a problem with the water pressure on the entire 4th floor and the only thing he could suggest was jiggling the handle on the toilet to stop the noise - IF IT FLUSHED! The front desk staff was rude and the other employees also mentioned it and apologized for their colleagues lack of professionalism. Stay elsewhere. For the money you could be much happier at the Hyatt Regency, Four Seasons or really anywhere else in Downtown.
“all at the alden”
The location of the Alden is right in the mix. Plenty of restaurant choices within walking distance or short drive. Parking was easy to find and cheap compared to other cities we have traveled. Alden does charge for overnight parking and is convenient after a long day. Check-in was fast. Our room was comfortable, restful, and clean. I would recommend it.
“Chic boutique hotel in dowtown Houston!”
I only stayed at the Alden Houston for one night for business, but I wish I could've stayed longer. Awesome hotel!
“Value for money”
Good hotel in downtown. India restaurant KormaSutra is near by Pickup and drop facility is really helpful.
“Nice room, way better than the magonilia hotel....”
This was my first time at this hotel, its small compare to the other huge hotel chains in the downtown area, but its decorated nice and is very relaxing. The room we had was a regular standard, and it was nice and comfortable. The bathroom was awesome and the standup shower was hip and updated. I don't really care about tubs, so I wasn't put off that it didn't include one. All together it was worth visiting again...
“Good Location for Downtown Venues”
Near a light rail station; I used it quite a bit. I did not like the additional expense of the valet parking; but parking overnight downtown is difficult.
“First Time in Houston”
I was wary of getting a hotel that I didn't know the name or any details of, but I will be booking my hotels through the Unpublished Rates section. Hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. It is a historic hotel (the old Sam Houston Hotel) that has been remodeled very nicely. Wonderfully comfortable bed and upscale bathroom. The bar downstairs was very quiet and intimate, but the drinks were quite pricey. Location is premier; in the heart of downtown, half hour max drive to any location and only an hour away from Galveston. The only true drawback was parking. The only parking available is street-side (and limited) or valet which costs about $40. Overall, excellent stay and plan on coming back and staying again.
