“Brilliant Hotel”

Absolutely brilliant, should be graded as a 5 star

“Great service at a reasonable price”

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We arrived a couple of hours earlier than check-in and were immediately advised that we could access our room straight away. The check-in staff were helpful and the desks discreet. During the process we were offered a complimentary glass of champagne or orange juice before being shown to our room, which was beautifully turned out - the epitome of modern hotel chic. It was midweek when we stayed there, yet their breakfast hours were more than reasonable - continuing until 10 a.m. We arrived to eat at around 9.50 a.m. and received exemplary service. I can only hope that I have more reasons to go to Cardiff so that I can stay here again!

“Excellent hotel, great location - would got back anytime”

Recently refurbished in a contemporary and stylsish manner. If I was to be pickly then there were areas in the bathroom that were in need of builders touch ups. hotel staff were great and the standard of cervice was very high. great location for most things you are likely to need in Cardiff

“Lovely theatre break.”

We found the hotel comfortable and convenient. Shampoo/shower gel was provided, but only one between two of us, which was a surprize for a 4 star hotel! The toilet roll holded was wrongly positioned, meaning it digged in to your thigh. Should have been higher up.

Good quality hotel in great lacation. Would try to stay again next time in town.

“Centrally located”

The only thing I can say against this hotel was the lack of the little things. But when paying this sort of money the "little things" are what makes it worth the extra. There was no sewing kit or nail file. There was tea and coffee but no hot chocolate. They supplied a soap for the sink (which was small) but no soap for the shower (although a gel and shampoo were supplied). But no other complaints. The staff were nice, room was nice, breakfast good.

“Short break at Thistle Hotel”

The hotel receptionist was a snooty lady who cannot be bothered by us. It was the same one when we checked out and she was on the phone. It was a personal call and she could not be bothered to hurry up to finish her telephone conversation. We requested for a late check out by about half an hour. We called on the eve and we were told to call back on the day we were supposed to check out. When we called on that day, that snooty receptionist did not even gave us time to request for a late checkout but cut us off and said late checkout is not possible. The maintenance staff was very helpful. On the day we checked in, the heating was down. The maintenance guy even brought us a portable heater. Breakfast was quite poor quality for a four star hotel. The fruit displayed was not fresh. Some days there were cheese and cold meat but not all days. It was the same boring breakfast everyday and after 5 days of the same, we were really not looking forward to it. The room was quite comfortable. The location was excellent. However each room is given only one 1 scottish biscuit. There was also no shower cap available. Overall I would recommend the hotel for a short stay. The breakfast is not worth the price.

“Pretty good for a weekend break”

Spent a weekend break at this hotel, although it is probably mostly used for business during the week. Generally pleased with the accomodation - good bathroom, furnishings, TV etc but rather a hard bed. The hotel is (conveniently) very close to many bars and restraunts etc, but the soundproofing is excellent and we had no noise problems.

“Great Hotel”

Lovely hotel but we were given a disabled room for some reason so the bathroom was not quite what I'd hoped. Bedroom lovely though. Don't use sat nav to get there - you will end up in an alley behind the hotel and not be able to actually get into the car park. Great location for shopping/ Millenium Stadium etc.
