Solid resort experience

Posted 21-Apr-2015
Pros: The room, the grounds, the beach, the staff, Butterflies Spa
Cons: The breakfast is good, but the Sunday all you can eat BBQ was overpriced. You can find your own local guides to provide cheaper excursions.
Location: Right on the Caribbean, near Hopkins, with access to all the normal activities and day trips.
This place is great. It's a clean, friendly resort with all of the main amenities you might want, but is not over the top (i.e. only one pool, only on restaurant, only one shop, not a huge campus). The staff is very friendly, accommodating and laid-back. Hopkins is a good little town within an easy bike ride (available at Jaguar Reef). The rooms are cool and comfortable, good mattresses, filtered water, simple with your own private deck complete with hammock and lounge chairs.

Nice accommodations, on the beach, excellent staff

Posted 03-Apr-2015
Pros: Nice rooms and beds.
Cons: Better lighting in the room, bedside lamps would be nice.
Location: We used the bikes to get around. Swam and kayaked from the beach.
Nice place to take a break from travel and have everything available and convenient.

SWEET BUNGALOWS BY THE OCEAN

Posted 24-Mar-2015
This place is an awesome place to stay for couples and families. We stayed 10 days and enjoyed all the amenities, staff, and surrounding eateries. The staff treats you like family if you are open to new cultures and the experience of just the experience. We really enjoyed how friendly the whole staff was from managers to the young man that takes the sand. Everyone was exceptional!!! Massages are a must on the dock! The ladies are very good at what they do. The servers in the Resteraunt we all exceptionally kind and fun to interact with. The bartenders were fantastic to joke with and learn about everyday life journeys they had gone through. We met at least 3 great families while there Tim and his family, Matt and his wife- Kelly, Mark and the girls were Great- it was like leaving all new friends and family when we all departed. We hope to keep in touch with everyone we met while staying at the Jaguar resort a definite jewel in Belize. I could go on and on but will stop here. Only one suggestion for management. OPEN UP THE BATHROOM BY THE POOL!!! We had to go to our room every time we had to use the restroom. And at times decided to just stay out of the pool due to the walk to use the restroom. It's costing the resort Pool bar monies I'm sure.

Fixtures need some work and repair

Posted 22-Mar-2015
Pros: The staff were excellent
Cons: Fixtures need to be repaired
The overhead lighting never worked, and the faucet on the shower pulled out of the wall, so care had to be taken with it. But the staff and guests made up for the cons by a long shot. The only caveat is that it's a separate flight to daningra from Belize City, or a 2 1/2 hour shuttle ride!

Hotel/resort on the beach

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: Location on the beach, friendly staff, spacious small resort.
Great week vacation at this small resort on the coast of Belize. Staff are all excellent, rooms very large, comfortable and clean. Daily adventure excursions throughout Belize -- cost varies but not cheap. Food in restaurant is good, lunch is best value (breakfast and supper are overpriced) but there are other dining options down the beach or in the village of Hopkins. Ocean is a treat and the two pools are never crowded.

The staff makes you feel like family

Posted 18-Feb-2015
Cons: Nothing to do with the resort, but the sand flies and mosquitoes are other-worldly. Come prepared (baby oil for sand flies, deet for mosquitoes)
Location: Diving, snorkeling, hikes in the jungle, zip-lining, cave tubing (not for the claustrophobe), and mingling with the wonderful people of Hopkins.
I was at Jaguar Reef for a week. As a woman traveling alone, I really appreciated how the staff made me feel at ease. They learned my name right away, were always there to recommend a place to eat, or an activity to sign up for. The resort is simple but very nice. The food unspectacular but good. The rum punches are fabulous and the whole place has a low-key, friendly vibe to it. There's a dive site on the premise and a really big one within walking distance. The resort organizes daily activities that one can sign up for so there's never a dull moment! Thanks a lot, friendly Jaguar Reef people!

Family vacay

Posted 10-Feb-2015
Pros: the proximity to the beach, the pools were not cold so the kids could play and not freeze.
Cons: The bed (mattress) was very uncomfortable it felt like we were sleeping at an angle in both bedrooms.
Location: Great location, not in the center of town which worked for us just a bit more south. If you don't have a car you can rent a golf cart.
Great time spent 2 nights there are places to eat walking distance from the resort if you don't want to eat at the hotel which is more expensive prices are in US$ so make sure you know that not in BZE$

Great option for Hopkins

Posted 27-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
We only stayed two nights, but if we did it again we would definitely stay more. The grounds were superb and the staff friendliness a day service was the best I have seen. Restaurant food was only OK. Happy hour drink prices are very good. My wife got food poisoning for a restaurant in town and the hotel staff was very caring and checked in on us several times during the day, they delivered us fresh ginger tea. Hopkins itself is a couple miles from the hotel but they have complimentary bikes and taxi. We didn't have time do do any tours bit they offer a variety of activities. We would love to stay there again someday.
