Set the correct expectations. A one-star hotel. But we had a beautiful lake view and a great experience. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. The elevator was good. It was a winter time stay. They provided a space heater and extra blankets. Very helpful arranging an economical airport taxi. The best location in Hanoi, in my opinion. Many wonderful food and shopping options just outside the hotel door.

Fantastic location in the heart of the Old Quarter. Mai and Sam bent over backwards to help us in any way possible including ringing other hotels and cars to facilitate our onward journey. Brilliant service, lovely staff. The property is a little tired but this was more than made up by the superb staff.

Tricky to rate this property as it had good and bad elements. The hotel itself was a little run down and they did not have hand soap when requested. However, fantastic location and cute balcony with outlook. The aircon was great and the staff were super lovely and helpful. Transfer to airport was convenient and well priced. Bathroom could do with an upgrade but room was spacious. Mixed feeling about the artisan and value for money.

Located in the middle of old Hanoi which is convenient to most everything you want to do and see. Incredibly inexpensive but clean. You eat in the local restaurants and get the local flavor.

It was conveniently located in the middle of Old Quarter. But the celanliness and the facilities were a little less than what I have expected. The staff was amazing and helped with everything we needed. Especially Sam and Tom attended to all our questions and requests together with the handy man.

Hanoi Old Town Retreat
Nice, clean basic hotel in the old town. Great location with lots to do and see around. Staff is helpful. Breakfast across the street will get you started for morning sightseeing.

what you see is not what you get...
first they will offer you to go to the hotel across the street... or the room will be so small and not like you would expect from pictures. service was also supposing arrogant, after we ask where is the bus station to the airport; the answer was we only help with taxi or private car. Location is perfect at a small quiet street near old town and the par; the lobby has promising character and charm, but perhaps we were not so lucky with the room and service. good breakfast at the cafe across the street.

I have to say that my rating is not 100% objective because I have not stayed at the hotel. I booked and paid for a room 4 month in advance, but upon arrival, once receptionist confirmed with me that I intend to stay only one night and don't plan to come back after Ha Long Bay cruise, she informed me that the room they had reserved for us had some plumbing problems and they don't have any other rooms available. To rectify the problem they offered us to stay in Old Quarter Family Hotel which is a remodeled hostel and clearly lacks the charm of this hotel. Their selling point was that they are moving us to a bigger room that can accommodate 4 people (it was two of us) which is more expensive, but useless for us. I didn't want to waste my time searching for a new hotel and accepted the offer knowing that I will be moving to a worse hotel. My expectations proved to be correct and I was not happy with the new hotel (see my review of that property). I could be wrong, but it seems to me they don't like to offer rooms for one night in a high season and use their other (cheaper) property to move some people.

Be careful about this hotel. 1. We booked the Artisan Lakeview Hotel, once arrived they moved us into their cheaper hotel. 2. I complained about the room and about them moving us to their cheaper hotel and all I got back was lies. Superior room and standard are the same. Plus the Boutique hotel is the as to the Artisan Lakeview Hotel. 3. Breakfast was OK. But we saw a RAT near to the ceiling fan. 4. If you don't book your tours and any transportation with this hotel, then you will be on their hit list. Because on the last day, our suitcases got broken in to. Oh. Our bedroom view was of a brick wall and a fire escape. Not outside light what so ever.

Booked and payed to stay in the Artisan Lakeview Hotel. When arrived and checked in, the lady at the reception gave us a room at their cheaper hotel which was across the road "Artisan Boutique hotel" That evening I asked one of their staff who was wearing a light blue shirt. We paid for a superior room and not standard. His reply was "superior and standard are the same. To get your breakfast, you will have to go next door but one. The breakfast is OK, but we saw a RAT up on the ceiling and near to the light. The lady Laura said sorry, the next morning at breakfast we saw the rat again. Once again Laura said sorry and the problem will be resolved. On day 2 of our arrival we was asked if we would like to change room and look at the Artisan Lakeview. So we did. The lady at reception said "if you change you would have to move your suitcases. The room was OK, but it stunk of smoke and there was wardrobe. But there was a balcony with sliding doors. The view was looking out at some geto and not looking out to the lake. On departure and after breakfast. I noticed that my suitcase was tampered. When I arrived at the airport. I said to my wife. I think someone tried to break in to my suitcase. She said yes, because my suitcase lock is broken. Would I stay here again. Well you should no the answer. If you want to use the hotel service and pay more for taxis or excursion, then the hotel staff should look after you with a big fake smile.

Fabulous location and amazing staff but the room let it down. Lots of mold in the bathroom, decor was mismatching and sort of filled with odds and ends. If you stay here book a room with a balcony, I peeked in one and it looked quite good and clean. I had a room that was internal facing and looked onto an outdoor area with cleaning equipment - I wouldn't recommend. The breakfast is just over the small road at a cafe upstairs and I couldn't fault it, good atmosphere and food.

Historical part of town.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. The area was in the ancient city part of Ha Noi close to the "Turtle Lake" and generally close to historical part of the city. There was however no lake view from our room. The air conditioning did not work efficiently. The lowest setting was mildly cooler than the outside. Room was clean and daily cleaning well done. Wi-Fi worked fine.

The location of the hotel is excellent, we could walk anywhere. However , it is on a busy street so we had to tolerate the noise of the traffic and vendors until late at night. The room was very different from the hotels.com site, still room was roomy and tidy. The air conditioner was dripping when we arrived but it was quickly fixed when problem was reported.

The hotel says that it is in walking street.but in actual fact it is in the street next to walking street we're they park their motorbikes. The room is very small and very noisy from about 6 30am untill around midnight. The fridge ice box had no door and the bottle shelf on the main door was damaged. The mini bar prices are extortionate ($1for water) when you could buy this for 25 cents at the shop.facing the hotel. The buffet breakfast had a reasonable selection with freshly cooked eggs. We paid $40 and would consider staying again if the price was $25 or less.

The Artisan presents very well!
The hotel room was tastefully decorated and bed was comfortable. We booked a basic room (Room 402) and there was ample storage so you didn't have to 'live out of your suitcase'. The staff were very helpful and obliging and would have to mention Lena the receptionist in particular. Even though they recommended the tours offered they did not push you to book with them which is always less invasive. The breakfast served at their restaurant across the road was plentiful but you would need to get there before 9am as I think after that they stopped replenishing the dishes. The restaurant is great for lunch and dinner too and reasonably priced. Suggest rooms at a higher level as it can get quite noisy at around midnight. Wifi worked well. We would definitely return to this hotel next time we are in Hanoi.

I would recommend hus place to anyone who’s traveling in a budget, but do not want to stay at hostels. Location was very convenient and staff were very friendly! It was chilly in the room and one of staff brought us a heater as soon as We inquired how to make the room warmer. (AC gives you only cool air) The building is old, but very clean! Only negative thing I should mention is the bathroom. It’s clean and spacious, but the floor gets wet when you shower even with shower curtain.

Happy to be in an affordable and classy hotel! We have a great balcony which is really nice for watching the action on the street, my only complaint is that it is so comfortable I want to stay in the hotel all day long. I highly recommend this hotel!

Clean, neat and tidy hotel in a very nice street in Hanoi. Just a 1 minute walk to the lake makes it the perfect place to stay. Good value for money, I would stay at this hotel again.

Great location and beautiful boutique hotel
Located on a small quiet street away from the hustle and bustle. Great that it includes breakfast which has a good selection of food. Reception helped us to arrange private car to airport for cheap price of US$13 (all other places said $20). Will come back to this hotel next time in Hanoi.
