“Fabulous design, location and staff!”

“best place to stay in hamburg”

i found this hotel as the best place to stay in hamburg. first day i was in sofitel, next day moved to side. but SIDE is much much better then sofitel with friendly staff.

“You Can't buy "hip"”

I wanted a change from the normal hotel chains. I'm a frequent business visitor to Hamburg and have stayed at most of the other large hotels in the center part of the city. The Side Hotel lobby and room decor was different but aside from having closets that look like large wall mounted white refrigerators and lots of glass and mirror, the hotel did not meet my expectations. I spend 7 nights at the Side and got to use most of the facilities. My first encounter was with a receptionist who didn't seem very familiar with the hotel. Although, other receptionists later in the week were both friendly and knowledgeable. Although the room I had did have a window, it only opened to the exterior decor pane of glass which does not open. Thus no ventilation to the outside. This was unfortunate since the hotel has no real air conditioning and I could not get the room temperature below 22 deg C. I asked about this twice early in the week and was told twice that it would be adjusted to have a lower set-point. However, the problem remained. There are no irons or ironing boards in the room and housekeeping will not provide one. The only way to get clothing pressed is to send them to the valet. My 7 shirts cost €30 to iron. On the plus side: Internet access is free for 3 hours a day The continental breakfast buffet is fantastic but a bit expensive (€23) The fitness center is simple but there is a nice pool in the basement Nespresso machine in the room with pods replaced daily

Area recommendations
When the weather is good, there are very nice walks around the lake (Alster) with some good restaurants and shopping not far from the hotel.

“Superb hotel”

What a lovely hotel from the minute you walk in the door the wow factor hits you. Such a modern clean hotel Staff are friendly and amazingly bi lingual Restaurant and bar expensive but to be expected Disappointed that there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room as we had a superior room and you have to upgrade to get this. Swimming pool and saunas were top class Highly recommend this hotel!!

“Hamburg's cool design hotel,perfect location”

The hotel was great,Location is perfect.I went there for business trip to see the fair.It is very close to Messe 10 mins walk.I also have my wife with me.It was very close to shopping area,when i was working she got access everywhere very easy.Rooms are spacious and clean.The lobby bar was nice,they have great cocktails.Event if you are tired you can just hang =out at the lobby bar,its very famous place. The best hotel that i stayed in Hamburg

“Brilliant hotel stay but why were there no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms?”

My wife and I both really enjoyed our stay at the SIDE hotel in Hamburg.It was ideally positioned for us to explore the city on foot and the rooms were very comfortable. The only downside was the lack of any tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms-something we had never previously experienced on our travels worldwide.

Area recommendations
Both the new and old parts of the city have their own identity and should be explored at length. A visit to the town hall (the Rathaus) and the harbor area is a must. Try visiting the Christmas Markets of which there are a number, during December. The festive season in Germany is so much better and more enjoyable than in the U.K.
When to go
Hamburg is a must for visitors who enjoy Christmas Markets. The whole atmosphere is unique to the German cities and Hamburg is certainly no exception. The best of many in the area is situated in front of the Town Hall ( known as the Rathaus).You can share a drink of Gluhwein with the many locals who spend an enjoyable time at these markets,where you can also eat varied German food.

“Design & style hotel”

Amazing design hotel. Very nice facilities but is Business focused. Meeting & Business venue. Amazing resturant, Location very central but not near trendy bars & clubs. Good if in town for work, OK if there for Holiday. Expensive in reationj to other hotels.
