“Unsafe zone.”
The reason we choose to stay at Los Reyes was because of how close the hotel is to Plaza de los Mariachis. but the hotel staff and a couple taxi drivers told us to stay away from Plaza de los Mariachis because there are thieves that steal wallets and purses.

“If you're desperate...”
My boyfriend recommended this hotel. He plays in a Mariachi at "Plaza de Mariachis" across the street. I don't think I will ever stay at this hotel again, that's saying the least. 1. When I got there, I stood in front of the clerk behind the desk for about 10 minutes until he stopped chatting with his friend and acknowledged me. 2. My boyfriend wasn't allowed to come in with me. It was like staying at a boarding house, more like prison. 3. The cleaning staff knocked on my door EVERY morning at 8am. 4.The walls are paper thin. I could hear the people next door, in the hallway, outside, upstairs and downstairs, the elevator, the doors close and open, all the while my door and windows were closed. 5. EVERYDAY my key would stop working. 6. Made only two phone calls the whole entire time I was there. Both times, my calls didn't go through. When I checked out, I was charged $17 (USD) for this. 7. What really pushed me to the edge was when I was discriminated and made fun of. You see, both of my parents are Mexican BUT unfortunately for me, I speak broken spanish. One afternoon, a gentleman staying on the same floor as I was stopped me and told me the staff downstairs was making remarks/jokes about me. Not only was it very unprofessional but very unpleasant. 8. To my suprise, the last day I stayed in that horrid place, I was helped by a friendly young lady. I just thought to myself "Where have you been this whole weekend?" I just hope someone else has better luck!
“3 1/2 out of 5 aint bad”
I liked my stay at this hotel. It was under renovation and decor updates. I go to stay in one fo the newer rooms. This place is no Ritz but its a few steps above motel 6 or Best Western. The rooms were clean. Beds were a bit to firm for me..But over all it was well kept. No as far as wireless goes that is still under construction. They have a lounge dedicated to wireless use, but thy are in the process of setting up wireless in every floor of the hotel. That was the only flaw having to get out of my comfy room and use the net in the lounge. Also (not the hotels fault) but the whole historic center is under major construction at the moment...But i will def stay at this hotel again. Great rates, Clean comfy room is all i need.
“close to market”
although the really big market was like a block and a half away that was the only worthwhile feature of this hotel. wi-fi doesnt reach into rooms, bathroom floor was sticky beds not too comfy, the roof top pool had beer cans in it, there was construction in the hotel and directly outside on the roads. this was febuary of 2009.
