We have just returned from a week's holiday in Corfu. One of the best things about our holiday was the St Nicholas Hotel. The first impression you get when you walk in is a feeling of calm. The decor is elegant with cool colours. The hotel manager was welcoming, very efficient and helped us a great deal during our time there. When you walk out of the hotel into the gardens and then the pool area, everything is well set out, beach umbrellas, sunbeds, a pool to die for, a poolside cafe, and the evening dining area all combine to make you feel someone actually cared about what they were providing for their customers. There are olive trees everywhere, which are always a reminder you are in Greece. Our room was comfortable and spacious, and we had a lovely view outside. There's a bus down the road which takes you to Corfu Town, and it's a 10 minute walk into Gouvia, the little village in the area.
But the main attraction of the hotel is the staff. From the manager to the serving staff at the bar/restaurant to the cleaning ladies, nothing is too much trouble, and they smile at you when talking to you. Such a lovely feeling.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing stay in Corfu - all the conveniences and surrounded by nature.
Very disappointed with this hotel. We were expecting cheap and cheerful for the price we paid, but nowhere did it say small bedroom and tiny bathroom. We have never seen a bathroom so small in our lives. Anyone carrying an extra few pounds, should give this hotel a miss. We were led to believe by the advertisement that there was air conditioning, and that was one reason we chose this hotel over others which were in the same price bracket. When we arrived we were informed that there was an extra charge of €5 per night for this service. All in all not a great experience!!!!
Our room was basic and clean, with twin beds a massive mirror and a fridge. The hotel was a little dated, this really didn't matter as the weather was lovely and hot and everything worked. The shower was in the bath with no shower curtain, but the shower worked well with a good force of water. The bathroom door didn't close properly, but for myself and my daughter this didn't really matter. The room had a nice balcony that was handy for drying towels and swimwear. The pool was lovely and refreshing, there was a pool bar nearby which sold drinks, but not snacks but the barman was happy to tell us where to buy snacks to eat at the local shop. On the last day we left our cases in the hotel and came back later when we had a last swim and could have showered before going to the airport.
Beautiful apartments and grounds located minutes from either Gouvia or Kontokali. Lovely pool area and whilst the there is some traffic noise at the poolside, you do get used to it and in my opinion, it does not ruin the pool area. Eleni and all the staff could not be friendlier and provide excellent service. Overall a great place to stay which I would highly recommend.
