“Excellent location & art deco furnishings; friendly staff”

Great value for money Next to excellent restaurant, Christopher Columbus statue, regal University buildings, not far from aquarium.

“Convenient, good quality hotel”

The Hotel Continental is next to the Principe train station - ideal if you are arriving and staying in Genoa - the airport bus drops you almost outside the door. The hotel has an old world charm - polished wood, antique lift - and so on. We chose a superior room, which are on the front corner, with three large windows giving plenty of light and extra space in the room. The regular rooms looked good too, although less spacious. The hotel is on a busy street, but we had no problems sleeping with the windows shut and air conditioning on . Spotlessly clean. The reception and breakfast staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfasts were plentiful - good range and quality. It is served buffet style, and three hot choices are available. The area is busy, close to the university and there are some good restaurants within walking distance.

i would recomend to take the train which is 100/mtrs and to visit all areas around genoa.....there are many nice spots

Getting around

the hotel is located right next to the bus station and one of the main train stations of genoa, therefore very easy to visit all the city, and by train to visit ligure riviera east and west of genoa..... for example we visited: camogli.......pegli....arenzano...portofino....etc.....

“Nice location to use the room only”

Good location walking distance from train station central. Nice atmoshere but staff have no customer service skills and are frankly not interested in foreigners.

“WILL RETURN”

Ideal for proximity to station and airport coach. Staff very helpful and friendly all speaking english. Breakfast ,excellent with plenty of choice unlike many Italian hotels. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room not on the front as street noise is almost constant and yes a nice lounge area would have been a bonus.

“February - Hotel Continental Genova”

The hotel had excellent staff, who all spoke excellent English. They were extremely helpful and very knowlegable about the surrounding area, which hasn't always been the case in Italy in my experience. The Hotel rooms were immaculate and were exactly as described.

Dining

For a good restaurant try "i Tres Merli" at the marina. Expensive, but worth it.

Events and shows

Go to Stadio Luigi Ferrais as it is a very picturesque stadium with a distinctive design . Make sure you get your tickets in advance from Genoa Store though.

“Great Hotel”

This hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from the railway station. Room was excellent, and TV has Sky satellite, and many channels can be switched from the default Italian to English. An easy walk into the town, but there are also several buses running to and from the station. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, and mostly fluent in English. This is a 4 star hotel and the price was very reasonable with breakfast included. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a huge choice of items.

Go to: Nervi (by bus) Portofino (train to Santa Margherita Legure and then bus to Portofino) Les Cinque Terre (train to Monterosso)

“Not impressed”

Even if this hotel has been newly refurbished, has a very nice "old-time" elevator and a very convenient location inside Genova, our impression is that services you ask for and which goes beyond of what you strictly payed for (=room and buffet-breakfast) lack a total sense of customer orientation. One example: in our case, we could not take on of the breakfast buffets since our we had to make changes in our flight and the plane was leaving very early. The restaurant accepted in preparing some "breakfast bags" for us 4: old hard bread, old salami, not even butter, nor fruit or cheese nor anything to drink. What???

“Feel like a Local”

This is a small Hotel in a busy area near the train station. It is not fancy but a good value at the price.. you can walk down the street for a Pizza or go to a nice restaurant next door. The staff is friendly and will help with whatever you need. Computer in the lobby with a small fee. I would stay there again for the convenience and feeling of safety as a single female traveler..
