Le Transat Bar - Informal, modern bar located on the eighth floor, offering snacks, drinks and light refreshments, with views of the city and mountains.

Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff and near to beach and shops. Small swimming pool and jacuzzi on roof top were ideal for relaxing by - although rooftop bar is quite expensive

The hotel is very well located next to the promenade des Anglais. The entrance/lobby is a bit old fashioned but the staff is very helpful and makes it utmost to make the stay, even short, special. We had a spa at a time when the facilities are normally closed, they indicated us a friendly pub in the old nice where my bf and I could watch the Premier League. The 8th floor panoramic view from the breakfast room on the snowy southern alps and the sea front is great. The shower has multi-jets and regretted I did not stay longer to also enjoy the jacuzzi bath in our bathroom. It would be great is during winter, the public jacuzzi on the roof was heated.
“Nice Hotel in Nice”
Room OK, but a little tired. We had a room on the 7th floor which was noisy early morning as they cleaned the pool area above. When there was a tour group in, breakfast was a scrum - difficult to find a table, crockery, cutlery or food! Having said all that - the location was good - handy for beach, shops and a walk to the old town. Staff pleasant, pool are small but good area for sitting outside at the end of a hard day's sighseeing.

We specifically chose a hotel with a swimming pool (because of the Nice stoney beaches) and becasue of its central location. The hotel served its purpose in that it was clean and secure, in a good location and had clean pool. I would recomend Hotel Splendid on this basis. However, I think it is a bit rich to describe this as a 4 star hotel. It is at best a 2/3 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star just becasue it has a swimming pool. Please note, the pool is little more than a plunge. When we first checked in at 14.00 we were advised our room was not ready. No explanation was given, no apology, no time estimate - merely our room was not ready and asked to wait in the lobby. Fortunately we were presented with a key to our room within 20 minutes - however, despite explicitly requesting a non-smoking room we were put on a smoking floor. We returned to reception and requested an alternative room. After about 15 minutes with no explanation we were given an alternative room on a non-smoking floor. Again not even an aplogy for the confusion. The service certainly leaves a lot to be desired. This hotel doesn't even have tea and coffee in the rooms - a basic requirement for any self respecting 3 star hotel. Once again the hotel does pretty much what it says on the tin - however 4 star it aint!
