Older hotel but very pleasant and convenient. Various restaurants and a laundry just around the corner. Excellent Austrian style breakfast incl scrambled eggs and bacon. Room very quiet and restful.

Lovely stay
Nice hotel in a great location. Less than a minutes walk to bars restaurants and shopping. Fantastic views from the balcony. Comfortable rooms and super friendly staff/owners. Hotel has its own parking spaces on the street but even if these are full there is plenty of free parking in the area. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Warm and welcoming
I arrived here after a very long journey with no sleep from the midwest USA and was able to check in early which was a tremendous relief. The room was cozy with one single bed. It was comfortable, clean and warm. The hotel is on a quiet street but just steps away from shops, restaurants and bus stop. Free local bus service is included in the area. The breakfast was nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

Quiet centrally located hotel
A quiet and centrally located hotel and short walk to ski bus stop. Really friendly staff and very helpful. The rooms are clean with great views of the mountains. Buffet breakfast features a wide range of items and very tasty. Overall we had a lovely stay. Thank you.

A wonderfully run family business. As is common in Europe, the building is old but it is very well-maintained—-fresh paint, colorful and tasteful decorations, beautiful views of the mountains from my balcony, fabulous breakfast, etc. This was my second visit and, after one year’s time, the staff remembered me and welcomed me warmly. I will be staying here again next year.

Very well maintained family hotel. A small 'lift' makes easy to get to upper floors. Excellent breakfast in sunny parlor. Staff very helpful. (Our luggage didn't arrive at airport; it was sent the next day to the WRONG "Edelweiss" in Garmisch. But this hotel made sure it was sent over to A&E and they held it for us. We would definitely choose again. Best for adult couples, cosmopolitan, who appreciate a traditional hotel.

Karin and Max were great hosts. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The breakfast is a good continental with extras and the service and coffee are both good. I traveled with two teenagers and the room was set for our family configuration. I highly recommend the hotel.

First Impressions Lasts
From check-in to check-out this place was a very good discovery. The atmosphere is different with a personal flare for treating guests. Parking is a bit tight due to narrow roads, no other issues to complaint about.

Nice hotel right in the heart of Garmisch.
The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, allowing us to check in early without advance notice. The room was very clean, and the view of the surrounding mountains from the balcony was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious, and the wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Traditional Bavarian Hotel in the town centre,
An enjoyable stay in a friendly family run hotel. We were made to feel very welcome and the room had traditional furniture but the included all the mod cons. The breakfast was slightly limited but the service made up for that.. The location is excellent for exploring Garmish but parking around the hotel is a little tight. Overall, a great stay and I would return there without hesitation.

Great stay
We enjoyed our stay here. The location made it very easy to walk to around town especially since the hotel has free parking. It was also a great location to make day trips around the area. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff was very pleasant had helpful. The bed linens were clean and crisp. After walking for hours seeing the local area, having the option to take the elevator and not the stairs was really nice. I would recommend staying here.

Perfect place in Garmisch
We loved this hotel! Our room was clean and comfortable. We were right downtown and close to all the restaurants and shops. The bus stop is a 3 minute walk away. Breakfast was delicious. Breads, meat, cheese, yogurt, eggs, and bacon, all served with various juices and hot drinks. We can't wait to come back.

Traditional German Hotel
Ideally located on a quiet side street, just off the main town square, minutes from the slopes. The Hartl family are extremely welcoming, and all staff are friendly and helpful. The entire hotel is spotlessly clean, and our room had lovely views over the mountains. There are many bars, restaurants and shops within minutes, and the ski bus stop very close by.

Excellent accommodations in Garmisch
We were in Germany a month, and our experience at Garmisch ranked right at the top in many respects. Very friendly and helpful staff, headed up by Max at the front desk who immediately made us feel very comfortable and was always available to answer questions and assist in making our stay enjoyable.

Room is bit small as is bathroom but was ok for one night. Breakfast was just ok and room where it was served was very warm and bit uncomfortable. Our room had a large door/window so lights out to avoid bugs.

This hotel is in a wonderful location, right in the heart of Garmisch, with beautiful mountain views. It is quiet, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is free parking right out in front of the hotel, and they have good free internet and breakfast! I would highly recommend the Almenrausch and Edelweiss!

Only stayed one night at this cozy hotel. Max is a great innkeeper. Room was on the small side but adequate with a great view of the Zugspitzer from the balcony. More of a B&B, the front door is locked at 9:00pm and you have your own key. No problems. Breakfast was also good. Definitely stay here again!

The hotel was very nice. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel with a ton of amenities, this is not the place for you. However, if you're looking for a comfortable place close to town, this place is great. The breakfast and free wifi are great. I had a single room with a balcony looking up at the mountains, and it was great. The staff were very nice and very accommodating whenever I had a question, and when I elected to stay an extra night.

I thought this hotel was actually pretty good, with two exceptions: Our room was on the third floor, and there is no lift. Talk about a wheezer of a climb! And it was worse when we were hauling in our luggage. I have arthritic knees, so this was especially difficult, and I would ache every time. The second issue was the parking. They don't have many reserved spaces, and they filled up fast. Our choices were to park on the street or park in a pay lot down the street. We had a brand-new car, so we wound up paying to park in the lot, and we were really uncomfortable with that. However, the room was clean, the bathroom was clean and modern and the breakfast was standard continental. The proprietors were pleasant and accommodating. I'd recommend this hotel to someone who could get around the two issues I listed.

Great Location in the Middle of Town!
We stayed here before and after a climb of Zugspitze. It's an ideal location if you care more about being close to restaurants and bars for after the climb than being close to the trail. There was plenty of space to pack all our gear in the room.

My biggest issue with this hotel was the sleeping arrangements. When looking for hotels on expedia, I was searching for a room for 4. The room stated there were four beds & a 'studio' room. It turned out to be a Queen bed with a hide-a-way couch/bed. Not what I was expecting, and not the best value for my money.

A fine place, but pricey for what we got.
It was a fine, clean, modest place with eager, friendly service. We knew in advance that there was no elevator and no early breakfast options from other reviews. It still would have been nice if they had offered us some kind of brown bag breakfast so we could have something in our stomach before catching our train to Munich. The biggest reason for three stars was the price. In retrospect, it just felt like we paid too much for what we got at one-hundred eighteen euro. We were there during a peak ski season, sure, but it still felt too high for was almost a hostel with a private bathroom. If you aren't price-sensitive, then I'd say this place is just fine and would probably give it four stars.

This was my 2nd stay. The location was good for visiting an ailing relative who lives nearby. Also price was good and booking fairly easy. Not happy there was no lift to upper floors with luggage to carry. At check in informed owner of necessity for early departure at 7:30 am to catch train. He was unwilling to provide me with an early breakfast (included in price) by just a half hour at 7 am. Surprisingly, wife of the owner let me have breakfast at 7:15 as I waited for dining room to open AND indicated an early breakfast could have been arranged. Rather a mixed message between husband and wife owners.

We loved our stay! Nice accomadations. Lovely dining room with full breakfast buffet. Owners very helpful with all our questions. Great location in Garmisch. No elevator, so ask for lower floor if you can't climb up 3 flights.

Close to the heart of town
Nice, older but quaint hotel. Only 1 - 2 blocks from the pedestrian zone. A nice standard European/German breakfast was included. Our room had a nice balcony and view of the mountains. Bath was a bit small but efficient and OK. No A/C in the room but you usually don't need it in Garmisch. - but we sure missed having it, cause it was a warm night! We needed a fan, but there was none. Parking is truly"on the street" and is in big demand! But we managed. Would stay there again.
