Extremely helpful, courteous and engaging staff in a delightful friendly environment. Looks functional from the outside but this changes instantly to warm and charming from the moment you walk in. Facilities are excellent (pool, sauna, ski equipment drying room) and never crowded. The location for walking into the nearby section of the town is very good. Rooms are a good size and equipped exactly as you would expect for a 4* venue. Could never tire of the mountain views from the window...
Breakfasts are quite superb in terms of choice and quality as was the Bavarian buffet enjoyed one evening. We liked the 5-6 minute drive to the ski slopes (wouldn't walk it anyway with equipment) but could easily find restaurants and coffee shops/bakeries within a couple of minutes walk once we were back and refreshed. Essentials such as parking and cleanliness are very good and we will definately be visiting again.
Ideally suited to families and those who want good facilities in a peaceful environment but who don't want to be too far from the action.
This hotel is charming and the staff was top notch. Excellent service all around from the cleaning lady all the way to the hotel manager/owner. Upon check in we were served a beverage while they completed our reservation information. Then a thorough explanation of how to get around the city and hotel highlights was given. Very large breakfast buffet in a room with great views of the alps. Great way to start your day! No air conditioning, but not needed as temps were in the 50s in mid-August. The hotel was easy to get around and there is an underground tunnel to the rooms in case weather doesn't cooperate. There was a heated pool with Alps views if you like to swim. Dinner service was expensive so we opted for dinner in the bar which was still pricey, but more casual. Food and service was excellent at both dinner and breakfast. The common areas of the hotel have been updated, however our room appeared to be straight from the 70's. We enjoyed it and it had everything we needed, but some might complain it is dated. My understanding is that they are in process of updating all the rooms. The room was very clean, however, and we had the family room which sleeps 3 and was plenty of space for my husband, me and our 16 year old. It is about a 25 minute stroll from the hotel to the walking area where shopping and restaurants are. If we are lucky enough to come back to the Garmisch area, we would definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself was great, the staff were friendly, the restaurant had delicious food and house beer, and it was close to everything. The view of the mountains were breath taking. Definitely recommend staying here, but maybe only during cooler months where you can leave the windows closed. The only real complaint I have about the hotel isn't really something they can do anything about. The hotel, like a lot of places in Europe, does not have Air Conditioning. This past weekend when we stayed it reached 33 degrees (91F), so without A/C, the only hope of staying somewhat cool was to keep the windows and balcony door open. But in doing so, the road right in front of the hotel was heavily traveled. We were kept up all night by loud cars racing down the road, and what sounded like 18 wheelers coming through. There was also loud music being played somewhere. When we closed the windows, it was dead quiet, but the heat became too much.
So if you are staying in cooler months, opt for the beautiful mountain view. If staying during warmer months, opt for the walled off garden view so you can be cool and have peace and quiet at night.

Arrived at 1115 dog tired from the states. We were allowed to check in early by very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very comfortable and clean. Location is great. 10 min to ski stadium. Grocier store right around the corner. Partinkerchin (5 min walk) Is a beautiful town with great resteraunts. We walked to Garmisch for dinner once, but liked Partenkerchin better & ate there the rest of the week. The area is very safe.
