“A 3-Star hotel with a 5-Star Staff”
The Albany Hotel is a 3-Star hotel with a 5-Star staff. Everyone, from Katie who checked us in, to Cecelia, the owner, treated us with warmth, genorosity, humor, and respect. They answered our questions, researched train and bus schedules, made helpful restaurant recommendations, and always greeted us with a warm smile. We've never experienced such a consistently positive and respectful attitude, not even in 5-Star hotels.
The hotel, which really is more like a B&B, has a charming breakfast room on the lower floor with a lovely view of a garden and a menu that offers a wide range of choices in addition to a small buffet of fresh fruit, scones, and cereals. Again, the staff just couldn't seem to do enough for their guests!
There's also a lovely salon on the first floor where guests can sit by the fire, listen to gentle music, and enjoy a drink. It has the feel of sitting in someone's living room, versus a hotel bar.
Guest rooms are somewhat small, but well-equipped and clean. We had a room which overlooked a bit of the garden and neighboring yards which, again, had the felt sense of being in a private home.
We thouroughly enjoyed our time at the Albany Hotel, would definitely stay there again, and highly recommend it to anyone who'd like a more personal lodging experience.
