"What a lovely old school pub and hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great (a lot of locals seemed to be eating here too). Room was simple but comfortable and very clean. There are a few areas that are a little tired and worn, but not to the level of impacting guests. I would be happy to stay here again"

"Very friendly staff in popular and welcoming village local. We only stayed one night and didn't eat here though the menu looked great. Obviously popular with locals and tourists alike for a small village it was busy on the Saturday night we stayed. Room was clean and comfortable though dated. The bed was a bit older than some but perfectly pleasant. The surrounding area is stunning with plenty to do within a short drive and lots of walking on your doorstep. Overall a most enjoyable stay. "Horrendous journey to the Fox and Pheasant. Worried we would miss the dinner cut off time we called through. Been traveling for over 10 hours! No problem arrive very tied to a lovely bowl of soup. Feel in to bed and had an amazing sleep. Set off next morning after a fantastic breakfast and a lovely packed lunch. Defo stop off again"

"I was taken to the room, which was somewhat cramped with ever-so-slightly grubby duvets and extremely thin pillows. All acceptable problems I was prepared to deal with (as was the remote for the oddly-placed tele being dead, but that's me being picky) and I was even able to accept the fact that the shower had two settings - literally scalding (the red of my hand taking hours to go down) or too cold to use. "Arrived about 4.30, had not noticed when booking that there was no car parking, nor was there any available outside. We tried to gain admittance to ask for advice on where to park but noonecwas around despite the fact that the website claims that the desk is open all day 7.30am to 11.00pm. We finally gave up and stayed elsewhere. "

"absolutely amazing place, we do travel a lot and normally don't do reviews but this time... probably the best place we ever stayed in... really well equipt and situated on edge of very small village (no shops, no street lights, very friendly locals), just perfect if you want to switch off and take break from stress, this place is for you... perfect location for hikers, cyclists and dogs... we loved every minute spent there... even checked availability to stay week longer but my partner couldn't...

"First time away with our dog and could not have picked a better place. Anne(owner/host) very welcoming and cannot do enough for you. Plenty of logs for the fire, bottle of wine, fresh eggs, caramel shortcake what a welcome package, don’t think you would get this type of welcome from many places. The lodge was lovely, all the amenities you could need and more, plenty of fresh towels and bedding, the view from the living room was amazing.
