Clean, comfortable and convenient. The property operates a collect your own key from box system so you must have the pin before arrival. The shower is adequate, there is a kettle for coffee and tea. Nothing fancy but all good. Location perfect to all amenities and beach.

The room could do with some TLC, the bed was awful every time you move the noise from the base was just ridiculous. Cheap nasty bed. Apart from that the room was fine. Tiny TV 👎

This business should not describe itself as a hotel. It is lodgings for regulars who know the procedure and possibly others who appreciate a fairly cheap, no frills no service night. When I arrived, the front door was locked. A woman came to the main door and pointed for me to go to the side door. At the side door, there were 7 boxes labelled 1 > 7. The woman came to the door and told me I needed to dial a code into panel N° 4 and I'd get my key. It was dark, hardly an outside light and I was expected to turn 4 dials to open the box and get my key. I had not received an email giving me the procedure, room number and code. The room was clean but basic. Just don't expect any human contact, they just want your money.

Self check in. Never met a member of staff main hotel closed. Walls too thin very noisy. Had booked for two nights only stayed one night left the next day. Worst Hotel we have stayed in. Would never go back or recommend. False advertising place needs shut down 😡

Two night stay
Two night stay to explore the local area. Very friendly and efficient welcome. The friendly manner of the staff shone through for all the time we were there. Comfortable, clean room, enough space and quiet (room 5 at the rear of the property). Nice, freshly cooked to order breakfast. We had a drink in the bar area one night which, while small, offers a space to relax away from the room. Overall, a pleasant stay with friendliness of the staff standing out.

Much improved
We last stayed here 5-6 years ago when it was under different ownership. The new owners have made a real effort to do the place up and it's much improved. All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was plentiful and fantastic.

Refund for not staying at The Folly Hotel
I notified the Folly Hotel 2 weeks before my stay that i could not go to the Hotel because I had 2 dogs. The hotel told me that my room had now been taken and that I would get a refund, but as yet I have not received a refund. Can you please contact the Hotel so that you can issue me with a refund. Excellent location, comfortable bed, good breakfast included, friendly helpful staff. We really enjoyed our stay and we would go back. Previous reviews make a big deal about noise and lack of privacy, I'd disagree. Sure the floors are creaky but the location is quiet, the room was dark enough to sleep well. Really not a problem.

I really liked that the Folly Hotel is in a convenient location near beach and main street, easy to find on the drive in to town and with free parking just over the road, beside the golf club. Staff were very friendly and keen to help my disabled companion negotiate the stairs. Breakfast was good. All-in-all, I felt the accommodation was reasonable value for the price.

Folly stay
Although small with limited space our room was comfortable and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Excellent choice for breakfast. well located for a stroll to the beach and into town. Parking can be an issue on busy days. Would certainly go back.

Sunny day and pleasant stay in North Berwick.
Good location although no parking at hotel. Local golf course had spaces. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a bit small(despite being for 3) due the sloping ceilings. Breakfast was adequate, paricularly in these times. Overall I would recommend the hotel.

Good location and friendly staff Property itself could be doing with a bit of a ln upgrade as the wooden panels and decor make it feel really old Also it should probably take the hotel part out of the name as it definitely feels more like a bed & breakfast, which of course is fine but dont advertise as a hotel because it does not feel like a hotel. Overall it was pleasant though, just needs a bit of updating.
